1. Now ive had the same problem, are you sure its hitting the poles? ala Steve Harris clanking, I thought I was as well but then realised it was slapping back onto the frets which gave it that sound and not the poles.
Yep all good advice above I tried 105's lifted the action dropped the pups, practised with more volume trying to hit the strings with a more sideways action, but its still tough live on stage as I get to carried away, I must learn not to get so excited!

  4.
Well, I'd say that it's up to the buyer to do the homework too. I'd never buy from any forum/auction site, without a quick Google.
But then we could say that about lots of posts "google it" theres lots of members posting for advice which is what the board provides, last week a bit of £100+ bit of kit was sold for £10 more + p&p than it would have brand new, how can that be right if we are here to help each other? Are we here to help fellow bassists acheive the best from this great hobby or to help sellers achieve the greatest profit from fellow members?
    Its just a thought!

  5. Also the other thing that gets me goat is like a recent advert that said "these cost £200 new" erm no they don't £117 from ***** but we cant point it out to potential buyers cause its against the rules, where as wouldn it be better to help fellow board members out and protect them from the dreamprice brigade?

  6. Hi I have the trace stack you see on the left to consists of the, ah1000 - 12, 1 x 15 cab, and a 4 x 10 cab, all in awesome condition ie: no scratches on the grills and tiny if any marks on the cabs the head is fully serviced @ peavey and been used for 2 hours since! all come with factory covers!

Although this is a feeler at the mo im after trading it for a ampeg system or maybe a marshall bass system due to tribute project coming up! I would consider a cash sale for £1,200.

This set up would today cost you £1963 at gak

  7.
Steve Harris puts a fresh set on for every gig...

could you afford to do that???
Erm no.... I was thinking more of the leave em on for 15 years option! ;)

Just sometimes that sort of sound may fit, like on the bass solo bit in "alright now" is that played with flats to get that sort of tone?
