  1. nothing spectacular but i have a thing for a white bass
  2. I'm looking to trade my Fender Precision Lyte. 1994 made in japan This bass is an absolute joy to play and it sounds as good as it looks, it weighs in at around 7lbs so you can play as long as you like without getting a bad back! The neck is superb, very similar to a jazz neck. The body is in very good condition, but remember it is a 20 year old used bass so it does have the odd little mark but absolutely nothing drastic. It has the silver hardware which i personally think looks much better than the gold hardware on earlier Lytes. The active electronics are very good, no crackling pots, nice preamp and equal output on both pickups. It has been recently strung with Dunlop nickel round 45's and sounds brilliant. I'm looking to trade for an 80's Fender Jazz Bass Special, preferably black or white and the passive version. Reason for it is that i'm a massive Guns N' Roses/Duff fan and i've wanted a jazz special for years. I don't want to let this bass go but as its my most valuable bass i have no choice! I am located in Sunderland. I would prefer a local trade but i can meet halfway within reason thanks

    NBD Fender P Lyte

I didn't realise these were so popular, I honestly had never heard of a Precision Lyte until i saw this one on ebay I'm really glad i bought it, i haven't been able to put it down! I laced up some EB nickel slinkys today and i must admit they're nowhere near as bright as the rotosounds (as expected) but the bottom end clarity has improved, the mushy E string problem i had has been solved which turned out to be the string not the P pickup height. It has a real nice low end 'thump' now!

    NBD Fender P Lyte

i have a shoulder that likes to dislocate itself a lot so this is a very handy piece of kit to have Last night i adjusted the P pickup, it's always had a bit of a boomy E and shallow A so the E side was dropped and the A side was raised. I now have even volume across all strings and no more mushy, boomy E. The rotosounds are coming off too seeing as the D and G are pretty much dead after about 3 hours use, don't know if i've got a bad set but the quality seems to have dropped since i last used them 3 years ago. EB nickel rounds have been ordered, I've never had nickels before so its trial and error to see if i like them.

    NBD Fender P Lyte

I believe it's slightly smaller but I'm not sure how much by, I haven't got a regular P to compare it to, yet!

    NBD Fender P Lyte

thank you's all! It does indeed have some very convincing Duff tones, especially with a little bit of chorus dialed in. I was thinking about changing the hardware to black but i'm a bit unsure of that now.
  7. Well after having to sell my gear 3 years ago to fund other hobbies i'm back, and very rusty! I came across this Fender on ebay and it rang all the right bells for me, i was originally looking at a Squier VM PJ but i'm not a huge fan of the colours (or lack of) so i had to have it. It plays very nice indeed, the neck is slim and fast without feeling too small. The pickups are clear and the range of tone from the pre-amp is nice for someone like me who likes to play a wide range of genres. I absolutely love the fact it's quite similar to Duff's Jass Special which is a big deal for a massive GN'R fan like me! It was obvious that it had been well used and slightly neglected, the strings must have been years old and i could write my name in the dust. A fresh set of rotosounds and a good thorough clean has gave it a new lease of life. To say i'm very happy with it would be an understatement

  9. thanks this is the Fender i picked up. It's very nice to play and should come alive with a set of new strings. Now all i need is a nicer amp
  10. Hi. Just bought myself another bass after having to sell all my gear a few years ago. Doesn't feel like a day since i last played and everything is coming back to me fairly quickly! I now own a frost white Fender Precision Lyte I've been lurking here a while so i though it would be a good time to introduce myself now that i've started playing again.
