Not sure i'll be able to demo it at loud volumes is the trouble as it's at his house, i'll certainly ask though.

Well as it's Ampeg it would expect it's high quality and will be able to handle the low B

Hey guys,

I've got an Ashdown MAG600 evo iii head, which I get my full 600 watts from at 4 ohms. Recently i've been trying to find out how much power I get from it at 8 ohms (as I use it with an Ashdown MAG 410T which is rated at 8 ohms), but can't seem to find this information anywhere.

Would I be right in thinking I get 300 watts of power at 8 ohms through the 410T from my head? If anyone could enlighten me that would be greatly appreciated.

thanks for the advice, leaning more towards the PF800 and PF410 cab I think, would be better suited to my needs for a more modern sound

Was thinking of replacing my Ashdown MAG600 and 410T with the following heads/cabs:

SVT450 head
Portaflex 500 or 800 watt head

SVT410
Portaflex 410

I've read nightmare stories about the portaflex 500watt head blowing up and a lot of people moan about how dissapointed they are by the SVT450, should I steer clear or is it just a few unlucky people?

Based in the Portsmouth area and there aren't any local shops that stock these particular cabs and heads for me to try out, so any advice would be great!

Personally I use my Sansamp BDDI for two reasons:

- It makes my tone a lot nicer IMO and sound more rounded and bulked out. It's a great way to achieve tone without spending thousands on a top end bass and head/ cab. Even though I generally gig with my musicman and Ashdown MAG head with 4x10 cab, you can still notice the difference in tone loss with the Sansamp off.

- The convenience of it being a D.I. box. I played a last minute gig with it on Friday, plugged my bass in the input and D.I'd out to the P.A. and it still sounded great. Much easier than lugging my cabs and head around sometimes!

I was unsure if I wanted to invest that much cash in a stompbox, but it really has been a revalation to me, I don't think I could go back to not using one. Although at the end of the day it is down to you and your personal preference, everyone wants their tone to be what sounds good to them

Not sure if you did manage to get this sorted but there has been a known issue with the MiBass heads, mine gave up the ghost too, get in contact with Andertons and they'll be able to fix it for you as I bought mine from them too

I was in the same position as you rorytufano, I managed to pick up a second hand Sansamp BDDI last week and I absolutely love it, adds a lovely warm tubey tone to my Ashdown amp, you really can notice the difference in sound, I would say it gives it more body and warmth to the tone. All of my basses i've used with it sound great (both passive and active). It even made my old Squier sound amazing!

It all depends on what you want, if your looking for a specific amp sound the character pedals may be better suited to your needs, I would say the Sansamp is a more versatile pedal (it comes with sample setting to give you SVT tones etc). The thing that swung it for me was the additional of the XLR, means I can D.I straight into the PA if I don't want to lug my amp to the venue!

Looks like this a know issue as I contacted them and had no problems in returning it for repair like you guys, mines due back today so i'll let you know how it sounds.

Could possibly be using this for a gig Friday, if I do i'll let you know what I think

What do you think if the behringer, is it any good? Was thinking of picking one up at the moment to see if I like it.

I've seen a few of these floating around and wondered how they compared to the BDDI, only trouble is they're more expensive than the BDDI

Not sure why i'm having issues with the ODB3, I wouldn't say my bass is ridiculously loud and I have pretty standard basses, might just be me, any tips for how to set the EQ on your amp when using it? I have seen the behringer BDI21 mentioned in forums before when discussing Darkglass vs Sansamp - any got any opinions on the Sansamp? I've seen a behringer BDI21 on sale for £26, might give it a whirl to see if I like it... theres a shop in London the sells both the darkglass b3k and b7k, might have to take trip up there and test them out.. Hi guys - you'll have to bear with me as i'm a complete newbie when it comes to effects pedals.

I play pretty much all metal (drop B mainly) and haven't used any pedals until up to now, but i'm looking to expand my sound a bit and add a bit of overdrive and distortion (not fuzzy sound).something along the lines of this:

this or the classic ampeg tone is what i'm after.

I believe this a darkglass b7k used in the video - bit out of my price range!

Can you guys recommend anything along those lines? Its my 21st in a couple of months so looking for something to treat myself. I've been look at the sansamp BDDI and the darkglass b3k, what are peoples experiences with them?

I'm currently borrowing a friends boss ODB3 but i'm finding that when I engage the pedal I lose a lot of volume from the amp compared to when I have the pedal off even with the pedal level at max - is this something i'm doing wrong? I use a Ashdown mag600 head and 410t cab, and I also have Ashdown Mibass 2.0 cab and 2X10" cabs and have the problem of volume loss with both of them, using both my active musicman and passive fender... Am I going to have this problem with something like a sansamp or a darkglass, as its really putting me off adding overdrive and distortion at the moment

Both the cabs are 8ohm, head is 4ohm minimum so that shouln't be an issue. As soon as I mentioned it to the guy at Ashdown he said there was a dealer recall on these and said to get in touch with Andertons to get it repaired, so its probably something Ashdown know about and are able to fix

Hmm strange, yeah mine was slightly different as both the D.I and cabs were cutting out together. Spoke to Ashdown and the guy there said there was a dealer product recall on the MiBass heads due to 'minor fault', guess mine was one that fell through the net... Andertons where I purchased it from are arranging for a courier to pick it up for repair and delivery pack to me, so hopefully once I get it back the issue will be resolved

Had a play around with it this evening and can't figure out if its either the head or the cabs, because as soon as I turn the output past 12 o'clock on the head it starts cutting in and out again, and does the same if only one cab is plugged in - am hopefully taking it to the shop I bought it from Saturday to show them and get it fixed/ replaced, will keep you updated

I recently purchased a Ashown MiBass 2.0 head and 2 of the Mibass 10" cabs to use as a lightweight setup - been using it at home and have had no issues whatsoever.

I used it for the first time live last night and encountered some issues - set up all fine, but once the rig had been D.I'd my cabs kept cutting in and out, and I could only have the output at around 2/3 to stop this - very frustrating as it meant I couldn't be heard at all! The sound engineer said my amp was on its last legs, which I told him is a shock to me as its brand new!

Once I get home from work tonight I'll have a play around with it and see if the same thing happens, and if it is the head or one (or both) of the cabs that are playing up - could it be just when it's D.I'd this happens, has anyone else experienced this with theirs? I was using an Music Man Ray34 last night, I read that sometimes active basses can affect the output or this is just a load of rubbish?

Any answers or help would be greatly appreciated, as obviously i've invested a lot into it and hope it is a fixable problem! Thanks in advance!
