Great story. Always nice to hear about people getting out of financial trouble - good on you.
I'm not familiar with Moolons (I know the name, and the reputation, but not much more): What's the deal with that pickup? Is it a massive humbucker? Or a casing around a more traditional P-bass split? (Or something else)
Its actually Moollon's own custom hum cancelling p pick up, its not a casing

Take 5 minutes for a story about a very fine chap.
Before the start of the pandemic I ordered a Moollon PV having been in Seoul to visit YJ and Andi Roselund at the Moollon workshop a few months before. I was really taken with the PV's tone.
So the Pandemic hit and after working in a factory building respirators for the NHS through most of it I then lost my job. Not good karma. Sadly having paid my deposit I wrote to YJ and Andi saying that I could not afford to continue with the purchase and I heard no more. A few weeks later I saw a red PV up for sale and thought no more of it knowing I could not afford another one.
2 1/2 years later I got a message from Andi saying that YJ had not sold the bass it was still there available for me... Jaw dropping moment. They never got the email and YJ hadn't sold it - he kept it for me. What other maker would do something like that? I had in the meantime managed to get myself back on my feet and could complete the sale.
Last week I took delivery of the bass I ordered three years ago. Delivered in pristine condition and sounding like a complete beast. I'm overjoyed to have this bass. I thought I had lost it and out of the kindness of YJ I do. What a bloody awesome bloke - unreal.
The bass BTW is staggering, the low end is so deep but articulate and the higher register is thick like a short scale. Its ridiculously good, and oh the colour.. Red............ Red...... Red........

Dear Guys
I have this sweet old Ampeg B15n 67 black tolex gold piped version.
Fully working with power supply, no dolly.
Just kept in the house for home happiness. I've parted with my vintage basses and this now seems surplus.
Good home please, not a silly price.
Shipping is a no-no for these so collection/meet up is the only real option.

After 40 plus years of playing bass, going through lots of instruments and slowly buying what I could afford over the last 20, I thought I'd share my personal modern instrument choices at this point( I mainly play 5's) - what are yours.
Vintage 4 string style Jazz - Moollon (I had a 5 but in the end the neck was just too chunky for my hands - but oh the tone)
Modern J/PJ Anaconda - I have a PJ the neck is gorgeous, thin body - modern bright - super playable. Aggressive P tone is stunning for P slap.
Modern P5 - Lakand Vintage P passive - on flats sounds like a 59p thick and thumpy Pino or tiktak Carol Kaye if you want plus that low B.
Modern MMJ 5 - Lakland 55-94 - not had this long but its the most tonally flexible bass I've ever had.
Fretless 5 - Pentabuzz but mine has Bart soap bars which I really like
Recording - Fodera Imperial Elite ( unchambered mahogany body - weighs a tonne )
For my ears Moollon/Anaconda/Lakland are all up there. Not knocking anyone else, I just haven't got to play everything yet.

This is my much loved Moollon J5 hand built for me by Joon Park in 2017.
If you are thinking of ordering one of these its now a 2 year waiting list.
It is without question one of the finest bases I have ever played and its been a pleasure to own it. I will regret this.
I've been to visit Young Joon Park in Seoul and a finer gent and craftsman you will not meet. I've put some build pics in.
The man is obsessed with quality and creating an honest vintage sound and that includes properly integrating an authentic B. If Leo had a five string in the 60's, this is what it would sound like.
I've attached pictures of the bass when new. I'll attach some more in a few days showing body wear which is normal in Nitro finishes like this. Otherwise no marks.
This is a 60's pick up positioning passive J5. I had this built to match my 62 jazz bass Olympic white with natural head and tort guard. Comes with Moollon hard case.
Why am I selling? I guess that after all is said and done I'm lucky to have an original 62 Fender Jazz and for 5 string I'm pretty much on active now. Price excludes shipping & insurance.
Body wood Alder
Neck wood Hard Maple
Fingerboard Wood Macassar Ebony With 7.25\" Radius

I thought that the P `s from the 50`s were all 2 tone burst but that looks great.
Its a 59 transition so all the sweet spots but none of the downsides....

These are my beloved trinity which are now either under offer or up for sale.
Its been a joy to have owned them these past years but needs must and you can't keep these precious things forever.
I thought I'd share them with you.

I’m going to say this out loud because if I’ve thought it, then undoubtedly someone else has….
I’m sure you’re a fine upstanding fellow of the bass playing community, but you might want to think about putting some of your own recently taken photos up rather than using the ones from when you bought it. What I’m saying is that I could have created that advert and for the money you’re asking, it’s probably the least you could do. No offence intended old chap. Just a thought.
Well you should know I'm real - I bought your Fodera 🙂 But yes I will post some more.

This is my 100% Original 1962 transition Factory white 3 pot slab board jazz bass.
Its a very rare beast indeed because it was one of the first custom colour 3 pot jazz bases to be made in April 62 from stack pot stock. There are far fewer of these than any stackpot you could find. In so far as I know I'm the second owner.
It's also 100% complete including the original mutes, chrome covers, and original brown hard shell case. The case has one broken latch, and has had two additional latches installed at one time, although one of the additional latches was removed. This authentic '62 Jazz Bass looks AMAZING with the consistent play wear of only one player since it was purchased new. There are nicks + dings, finish checking, and other cosmetic wear including finish worn from the back of the neck giving it a nice smooth feel. The bass itself is structurally sound with no cracks, breaks, or repairs. All electronics work and sound great as all solder joints remain original and untampered with. The pickguard is intact and appears to have never been removed. The weight is 9 lbs 7.4
If I had to characterise this bass I would use the term funk-monster. It plays effortlessly and super fast. The tone is thick and full of rich harmonics.
Its been valued at £25k by ATB but I'm open to sensible offers. If it doesn't sell here - that's where it will be going for sale.
I purchased it some years ago from Olivia's Vintage in the US. The original ad is still available and has lots of pictures.

I'm looking for a UK sale if I can get it - but Europe is fine. This baby is not going in the post so a handover in person.

I have a custom base built by Andrew (Anaconda) build quality is top notch. I wanted a bright 5 sting PJ as my main working tool in a funk band.
The bass is very comfortable to play, fast and the tone is what I was looking for for the job. Andrew is a real gent. His Essence range is superb for the price and much better in my view than a Sire ( having owned one). Andrew is fussy about what goes out, anything going through Andrew's hand is going to pass muster.

If this was on the wall in the Bass Gallery at £2600, it would be gone within a week.
Why is it still here?
You tell me.......................... its a fantastic player too. I prefer the tone of the 79 to the earlier bases for fretless. I think they are the equivalent of a 59-60 p bass to the 57 if you ask me. its the precise moment they got it just right.

Feeler for serious buyers.
This is my August 1960 Fender Jazz Bass. It is all genuine and in good order, Pots, pickups and solder joints are are undisturbed. Includes the original case in excellent condition.
I bought this from the US some years back and I can tell you its one of the best playing basses I have ever laid hands on.
She has been on flats all her life so the frets are in great condition.
She comes complete with her original ashtrays in excellent condition and a full set of mutes.
Sadly it is time to let her go. No trades, no kidneys, no children please.

It's a bit like discovering the opposite sex when you were a teenager. It's different and really quite pleasurable. After a few fumbling attempts at the unfamiliar bottom end you soon feel at home🙂

it is 60s, but you also have to know that back then Fender quality control, wood, how were they build was actually stinky poo and by that every JB that I've tried throughout my years of playing were not that great instruments.
I found my '66 that I really like (personal taste), so I also have Moollon B524, and it's great same vintage vibe 5 string, but comparing bass next to one and another is whole different approach. You can have two jazz basses from same era, and they would feel different and sound different. My choice was mine '66, I had option of getting for almost the same money the '65 JB, but this one was just better. So preCBS, CBS, Japan, there are good and bad instruments, but for Moollon I know for fact they build them so every bass is great. That's why I would like to compare it with my JB
But, thank you for your experience and post!
Hi Goran myes noted I know you have the B524. I played on over in YJ's workshop - outstanding instruments. He had on hollow boody left - I was so - tempted.
As for the pre CBS yes its true they are different. My 66 was sweet and aggressove but the neck was not great. I've playes a couple of amazing 66's tho

I honestly cannot believe this is still here. These are a rare beast indeed. Don't be put off by the pick up configurations, the tone on these is mad.
I have owned vintage 59P, 65P, USA Lakland P and this is the P that sits in the mix like a 59, has the range a dynamics of a Lakland but it has a transparency and clarity of the best modern P basses if you want it.
The low B is thick and earth shaking. The warmth of the tone all the way up the board reminds me of the best shortscales.
For me this is the ultimate players 5 string P.
