I Need to get a couple of my basses set up , there aren't many music shops in my area and so ive been considering Feline guitars in Croydon to do my setup (the repair person being a luthier puts my mind at ease a little) , has anybody used them for a setup before , how were the prices and was the setup done well ?
I had them set up and install new pups in a Jazz a few years ago, and was happy with their service. Did the work in a couple of days too. -

That's what I was getting at; I bought a 75RI Jazz from him last year for £450. The weak pound is taking its toll. -
Far East Guitars occasionally have these in. For non-export models with US pickups, depending on condition they seem to be advertised around the £450 - £500 mark.
+1 to everything above to which I could add Will Oldham, Carter Family, Calexico, George Jones and more. Country is no different to any other 'genre' of music - the good stuff is obscured by the commercial dreck on radio, cable etc. etc. So take it like a man, son... or we'll be round with pitchforks and torches before daybreak. -
Good looking bass. I'd have been tempted if I hadn't just acquired a BB1200. Good luck with the sale

That's got to be a good deal.

£350-400 seems to be the going rate for the better Jap Fenders - EDIT - sold on here recently.

Aye, that was last Monday. -
Great stuff - excellent website, set-list and playing on the tunes. Well done
Earth Terminal Studio just outside Odiham, about 5 minutes from Junction 5 of the M3, probably be at the limit or just beyond how far you are willing to go, but my band recently did some recording there and it was great!
New recordings up on Myspace in the near future!!!
That looks amazing, thanks for that - how much did the session set you back (PM if you prefer)? -
Just received a 1979 Yamaha BB1200 from Will: wonderfully packaged, in magnificent condition and polite communication throughout.

Thanks, Crez, that looks very nice and not too far either. I spent much of my youth in Southend (and parents still live there) so can def. relate to "Essex - Home of Bass"

Hello there
My band wants to record 3/4 songs this spring and we're looking for a studio. Though we have some basic recordings on MySpace (see link below), our line-up has changed - it's 75% new and now includes cello (sounds like a washing powder ad!).
What would we like to get out of the new recordings? A document of the band's current sound for our own satisfaction and to aid getting better gigs etc. In terms of production, our sound is quite clean with few effects and no loops so a natural and warm sound would be good (think 'Alice' by Tom Waits).
We are all London-based but are prepared to travel for the right place. Can anyone recommend a recording studio in the south-east from experience or friend's feedback?
Thanks for reading,
Doug -
Hi there, I'd recommend posting pictures before asking for offers - this isn't eBay so no one's going to pull your sale thread
Stating your location will help too as potential buyers may want to try it out.
Good luck with the sale. -
Glad to hear op went ok, best wishes for a smooth recovery to full bass action soon.

Sounds a great gig, OHM, and great to raise some charity money too. I'm looking to hire a venue for my, and a friend's, band to play a joint gig night for fun and friends (ie. no promoters involved!) in London. I'd be interested to hear how much the G & D cost to hire, if you wouldn't mind PM-ing me.

I have one of these at home: it's very sturdy (and my wife has "modded" it by painting the metal parts purple!). Not sure if Stickman has the 1 or 2 square shelves that attached to either side - these are ideal for mounting LCD/CRT monitors on - but they're probably easy to pick up on eBay if not.
IS it a McGriff promotion?
Sounds like his style.
Club McGrifter? It does indeed. Reminds me of an old Tom Waits song...
What's he building in there?
What the hell is he building in there?
He has subscriptions to those magazines.
He never waves when he goes by.
He's hiding something from the rest of us.
He's all to himself. I think I know why.
He took down the tire swing from the pepper tree.
He has no children of his own, you see.
He has no dog. He has no friends.
His lawn is dying.
What are all those packages he sends?
What's he building in there?
That hooklight on the stairs.
What's he building in there?
I'll tell you one thing. He's not building a playhouse for the children.
What's he building in there?
And what's that sound from underneath the door?
He's pounding nails into a hardwood floor.
I swear to god, I heard someone moaning, low.
And I keep seeing the blue light of a TV show.
He has a router. And a table saw.
And you won't believe what Mr. Stitches saw.
There's poison underneath the sink, of course.
There's also enough formaldehyde to choke a horse.
What's he building in there?
What the hell is he building in there?
I heard he has an ex-wife in someplace called Mayor's Income, Tennessee.
And he used to have a consulting business in Indonesia.
But what's he building in there?
He has no friends. But he gets a lot of mail.
I'll bet he spent a little time in jail.
I heard he was up on the roof last night, signalling with a flashlight.
And what's that tune he's always whistling?
What's he building in there?
What's he building in there?
We have a right to know.
Just a thought
