  1. Kramer XKB-10

    Kramer XL-9 with EMG pickups

    I played these two basses from 1981 to 1999, then I had enough of these neck diving and back breaking basses.
    The amp I used was a Trace Elliot AH250 (Mark IV) with the very first Trace Elliot 4x10" sealed cabs. TONE HEAVEN !!!!! :gas:
    By the way my old AH250 is still operational! - but VERY heavy to move.

    I would be nervous of taking that Buzzard out to a gig, for the fear of taking someones eye out! :D

    OK I spent some money on this bass, but I didn't buy it because of Entwistle, but because it was a real masterpiece built by Rob Green;
    this complex form out of one mould was a real challenge, and I'm still waiting for someone else to build a bass like this with carbon fiber!
    This one was the prototype, no serial number, no roman inlays, slightly different electronics, played and tested by John Entwistle.

    But I bought this Buzzard to play it live, and I take it to gigs when the stage is large enough, you're right, I don't want to hurt anybody :) .
    The sound of a Status Buzzard 1 is ... well something completely different from any other bass, wood or carbon made.
    It's not a studio bass, it's the most terrifying bass for live gigs and played VERY LOUD!

  3. I can see from the picture that it's a regular 2 octave bolt on neck. As for the body form, well, not as extreme as the Buzzard B1.
    But it's not yet the one piece of carbon B3 we've been waiting for some years now.
    And by the way, the Buzzard B1 is ugly only when it's laying on the table, once you've strung her, it's a well designed
    instrument with a rather tiny and elegant body and a long neck - the only difficulty being to reach out for the G tuner.

  4. Yes, but very easy to use once you understand the layout. It's in fact a classic setup with Blend, Volume, Treble, Bass.
    And the 4 knobs near the output jack are: semi-parametric for high, and semi-parametric for low.
    The 2 toggles are to switch the pickups from humbucker to single coil.
