What strings does everyone use on their fretless? I've got these bad boys on at the mo:



Galli Black Nylon Taperwound - plenty of 'Mwah' and a nice thump, kind to the fingerboard and lovely to slide on too!

I've got no time for people who wanna play race driver, it may be graceful until you hit a patch of oil, there's a change in camber or you have to try and avoid any number of things that might be on a public road, that happens and you'll swap ends quicker than your sphincter can snap shut.

4 wheel 'drifting' in a front wheel drive car on public roads? There's a word for that and it starts with T and ends with at.

I use my fretless on one tune at the moment, but am doing some of my singer's acoustic stuff soon and if we gig that it will be fretless + pod; haven't played it live with the full band yet i've got enought stuff to carry!

I know all about intonation - I had to move the bridge to get it right (damn my half arsed measuring!)

On the back there's a section called "Mute F/S" which has two inputs called "Output" and "Sub"

Get a locking footswitch and whack it in there. Sorted.

Had no problems with my TU-2, find it's more accurate on strobe mode. Built like a tank, the only way I'd need another tuner is if this got half inched. To replace it? A TU-2!

I like my ART Levelar, got it from here a couple of years ago and it's had no problem coping with my Spector. Used it on vocals and acoustic too, simple and sounds great but don't think they do them anymore? If you can find one snap it up

Have you got the missing input mix knob on the ABM?

Mines usually on all day at band practise, I let anyone use it at gigs so it's on for a good stint being pushed and I've never had any problems, nor have I heard of heard of any combustion issues.

It wasn't funny on page 1, repeating it every 5 posts won't help.

Been gigging my ABM300 for nearly 8 years now, tried a few different amps but always gone back to it. What was he using? ABM? MAG?

What kind of lead would I need to power my spector with the phantom power?

Well the room was too small and was filled with stuff so couldn't get it sounding good with the bass, but did use it to redo all the vocals. Have mixed one tune 'March of the Octopi' which you can hear @ [url="http://www.myspace.com/eightdirtypages"]www.myspace.com/eightdirtypages[/url]

All the other songs on there are old or w.i.p.

If it pops it's £50 for a new ribbon!

I will be erring on the side of caution and I haven't recorded in this particular room before so will defintely be having a play before I get down to it

I've got my hands on a Sontronic Sigma to rerecord the vocals on my bands tracks, will probably use it to record a slide solo that needs doing as well but was wondering if anyone's used a ribbon mic on a bass rig?

Obviously would be using it a good 6ft away, and it says it can handle high SPLs so I thought I'd try it out. Never used a ribbon mic before so just want to know if it will damage it?

All tracks are working now, I made the decision to re-record vocals this weekend as she can do so much better, but any comments on the rest of the mix/tones/arrangement would help.

Gonna get rid of the Network sample in 'Get Up' and replace with some vocals or a solo I think, it doesn't really work at the moment.

Hi been recording my band over a few weeks, nothing fancy just in our rehearsal space using my macbook/motu 828

It's the top three (Liars, Guide the Way and Get Up)

Basically I've been listening to these tunes pretty much constantly for a week or so, did vocals at my house yesterday and with it all together I'm not sure if it's 'right'.

I reckon I might get my singer to redo vocals at the studio, think she was a bit self concious and didn't give it as much oomph as normal

Anyway, any thoughts/advice would be appreciated!

I'd connected my pickup's output to the EMG battery connection on the battery clip, moved it to the volume pot and it was fine.
