1. i'm a big warwick fanboy too. never looked back.

i've noticed a big drop in 'famous' rock bassists using warwick (lostprophets, story of the year, incubus, etc etc), wonder why that is?

I rarely see other Warwicks when I play shows these days :-(

I would literally kill for a streamer stage II and the custom jobbies that Stuart Zender had back in the day were amaaaazing.

2.
Love it, played in thrash covers/original band for a while, got the shirts. Though I'd never do it again, maybe a few Metallica covers for kicks. In fact, I played a good amount of 'Tallica songs for the first time in 2 and a half years just the other day, it felt quite humbling actually.

When I am inspried to write metal-esque stuff, I tend to draw influence from Mudvayne and Protest the Hero, seeing as the metal side of my bass-vocabulary is a good mix between the 2. Technical yet groovy and melodic.
YES. the guy from Protest is AMAZING.

also, I love Brian from A Wilhelm Scream (although they're *technically* a punk rock band). gratuitous tapping video:

And I did it twice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bass wise........the Mex Jazz I've just done up. I still have it , I'm not selling it , but I just know I will at some point and then regret it!!!
aaahhhhh I had one of those too and wish I still had it. had the ickle bag and everything!

chorus was a bit useless, but it was awesome.

4. I just did a gig with a thrash band called the quarry to fill in for their bassist who's in the middle of leaving due to wifey commitments.

Tons of fun but everything was tuned down to drop C# and I *really* needed a five string for it.

flap flap flap.

5. ok, thanks for the response so far, bit more info:

- cab budget is about £500 (so nothing brand new)
- I used to be an Eden guy, so the warwick/eden tone is deffo what I'm into. Heard lots of good things about MarkBass and EBS but have yet to see a setup live.
- Not an Ampeg fan. bit too classic for me. Plus our whole scene uses Ampeg so it would be nice to have something different.
- light ABS cases will totally do the trick since these are all going in the car. we're a way off full flight cases yet!

6. Hi all,

Instead of muddling through it all myself, I thought you guys might be able to help me out.

I'm going on a short tour in the first week of june, mostly 100-300 capacity venues. It's also looking like we're playing at the Astoria in June too. eep. At the moment, all I have is:

- my warwick corvette
- a warwick quad iv (the 400w one)
- nothing else (except for a jack lead and lots of enthusiasm)

So I have a week to get my hands on

- a tuner
- a rack
- a cab setup (either 2 x small 8ohm or 1 x 4ohm)
- a backup bass
- 4 sets of strings

things to bear in mind:

- I only have a little car (a new style Mini), so boot space is limited
- the quad iv has speakon and xlr outs only. Has to be run in parallel.
- I don't want to spend a fortune

Any advice would be *enormously* appreciated.

7. Hey everyone,

I'm Simon and I've been playing bass for 13 years. I'm currently playing in a power-pop band and do occasional metal on the side. Was trained on jazz.

I took a break for a few years, during which I sold my Eden WT-400 (huge mistake).

I'm now back and just got a Warwick Quad IV and am looking for a nice 4ohm cab (or a pair of little 8's) to go with it, so will be trawling the for sale forums!

I've been playing the same Warwick Corvette Standard I've had from new since 1997.

Total Warwick fanboy, and I'm on the lookout for EBS/SWR/Eden/Aguilar gear since we're going to be touring quite a bit from now on.

Thanks everyone!
