  1. Traynor YBA300 valve head running 12 6L6s for that unmatched all valve feel. This was the dream head for me but I just don't use it enough and need the cash. The amp has performed perfectly since I've had it - i've used it four or five times at larger outdoor shows but it has to go sadly. Has the super cool bias management system on the back where you set the bias for pairs of valves meaning that if one fails, the amp shuts down that pair, you continue playing and then only have to replace that pair. All valve pairs are biased pretty cool so there are no lights at idle and it runs super quiet. Only issue I can find is that the active jack input feels slightly less positive than the passive but the jack plug still engages and transfers signal - just doesn't click like the passive one. 

     

    When playing, you really get the feeling that this amp is only just ticking over and has crazy amounts of power in reserve. As for sounds, this amp is just so warm and feels amazing behind you. It doesn't sound like an Ampeg which is more fluffy and attenuated - this thing just has tons of clean headroom and clarity. You can dial in little grind with a passive bass by cranking the gain but I preferred to run the master on full and then tickle the gain knob to get to the stage volume I needed. That way you get this thick wall of clear bass tone. It's pretty epic and probably one of the only YBA300s in the country, certainly the only one for sale.

     

    No logo I'm afraid but it looks super mean as it is. I emailed Traynor to ask them to send me a replacement but after agreeing to, it never materialised and I moved on. The amp has seen some action with some marks to the tolex and grill but nothing other than honest wear from touring. I can supply additional pics if necessary.

     

    It comes with a heavy-duty full flightcase that was made for a slightly longer head but it fits well in terms of height and depth and I just plug the gap with a small piece of foam and it doesn't move around (see pic). The amp is surprisingly light for a high power valve head at 23 kg and is fine to move around even in the flightcase.  

     

    Open to all possibilities for collection, meeting up in the South West or shipping with or without the flightcase. I can pack the valves separately and put them inside the cabinet. This amp is incredibly robust. Contact me for a quote.

  2. Top of the line Fender bass amp from the professional series in the early 2000s incorporating the classic TBP-1 valve preamp with passive tone stack and 600 watt solid state power amp. Footswitchable drive channel, parametric EQ, effects loop and built in tuner. Has that classic vintage Fender tone and drive with the valve preamp section.   3. This is the nicest P bass I've ever had and it trounces any modern Fender in terms of looks, feel and tone. The body is lightweight at around 7 lbs (3 kg) and the neck has a gorgeous dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard on beautiful yellowy maple that is visually excellent but feels well worn in after 38 years of playing. The neck is pencil dated 11 .1. 1982 and it has the original reverse tuners, which hold their tuning perfectly but are visually a bit tarnished and creak a wee bit when you're changing strings. This bass has been played and played and played and feels totally worn in with all the mojo. The body has a gorgeous old-style sunburst where the red and black have faded a bit in the sun, there's plenty of edge wear but the top is clean. The neck is tight in the neck pocket and I added a thin card shim to get the best action. The back of the body has a gouge by the neck plate a few other marks and lines in the finish. The tortoiseshell pickguard is the original one and looks amazing - it's shrunk a bit in a couple of places like the old ones do but it fits good overall. There are some added screw holes under the guard where the previous owner added a different guard. The pickup is the original one in a newer casing as the original one cracked (I still have it) and has just had one of its bobbins rewound by Bare Knuckle pickups so it's back to factory spec. The ground is soldered to the original copper shielding plate in the pickup cavity. The tone is thick and punchy with flatwounds but retains all the definition, drives the amp well and goes all Motown when you roll the tone off - ultimate P bass tone. Unfortunately. the previous owner lost the neck plate with the JV serial number when he tried a jazz neck on it (just bonkers huh?) so the bass comes with a similar one from a Vester bass. I thought about buying a replacement JV neck plate but that felt a bit wrong so I'm leaving it as is. A new blank plate is a few quid on ebay. The bridge is a more modern replacement although I have the original bridge with the threaded saddles but the outer two grub screws are seized meaning you can't get the outer string's action right. There's an extra two screw holes under the bridge where someone must have experimented with another bridge. The knobs look like they're more modern versions with slightly domed tops rather than the flat tops. Again these are a few quid on ebay. All in all this is a fantastic bass with tons of vintage mojo and it just oozes class from every viewpoint. It looks, sounds and feels as close as you can get to a vintage early 70s bass but without the £3k price tag. I'm gutted to have to sell it as this was supposed to be a keeper but bills are piling up. A perfect example would be over a grand so someone will get a great deal here. Comes with a Hiscox case. I'm down in Cornwall but would be happy to meet on the M5 somewhere for a quick sale. I'm open to different options and can ship if necessary.

  4. This bass is sweet - top Japanese quality from the famous Fujigen factory. Lightweight at under 4 kg on the bathroom scales. This bass has had a genuine Fender USA anodized aluminium pickguard, thumb rest and bridge cover fitted for the vintage look and USA CTS pots and Sprague orange drop .047 uf capacitor wired with cloth wire. The original pickup sounds perfect so I never thought to upgrade. I've got the original cream pickguard. The bass rings like a bell acoustically with tons of sustain and loads of natural brightness on tap from the maple. Lightweight, two-piece ash body with the join down the centre which I like. Roll the tone pot off and play up by the neck and your into classic Motown thump - the Precision just sits down in the mix perfectly and just sounds right for any genre. Then if you dig in with your fingers or a pick it barks and grinds like a beast. Comes with a Rockcase brown Fender style case which looks the part and gives excellent protection. There are two filled screw holes where the previous owner added strap buttons 🙄 on the bottom edge next to the correct one and another on the back lower bout near the edge (bizarre place for a strap button, eh?). These could easily be touched up with some black and blown over with some clear but I never got round to it. There is some buckle rash on the back top horn and a little above the pickup where your wrist goes. These CIJ/MIJ basses from the 90s are getting really sought after now as they look absolutely spot on for the vintage vibe, they play and sound great and they're way more affordable than an American Vintage Reissue or Custom Shop bass but are just as good in my opinion. I can ship this around the country with UPS next day if you pay the asking price or you can collect from St Agnes or possibly Bath depending on timings. Trades of equal value considered.

Made in the USA in the San Luis Obispo factory in California, these first-generation SUBs are slab body Stingrays with the gnarly 2EQ, the same pickup, electronics and hardware as the top-of-the-range Rays but with a hard-wearing textured finish body and black painted neck. I had the back of the neck professionally stripped back to the maple and then finished in Tru-Oil - the same stuff Music Man use - for a super-fast natural feel. The rosewood board is really dark and just feels gorgeous and the neck profile is just perfect - it has that nice worn-in feel and is just a joy to play. I also added the matte black pickguard as the original thin diamond plate aluminium guards are naff. The red star sticker can easily be removed and will leave no mark - but it looked sick in my Rage Against the Machine tribute band. Also included is the Hipshot D-tuner worth £50 for slick tuning changes - no new holes were drilled to install this and I have the original tuner if you prefer. The bass looks great and feels as good as any Stingray I've played. I've had a few of these, a Stingray Classic and a Stingray 3EQ. It's pretty light too as the body is poplar rather than ash. It still has that trademark lively response and long sustain. These USA SUBs are legendary among Music Man aficionados - check out the buzz on the forums. Condition-wise the body is excellent with just a couple of nicks on the edge of the headstock. Schaller straplocks added. I can ship this in a Hiscox LiteFlite case or you can collect from St Agnes in Cornwall. I can also get it up to Bath with some notice as my parents come down to Cornwall every 6 weeks or so. Another option for cheaper shipping: I could remove the neck from the body and ship them together in a smaller box, then you can stick the neck back on. Contact me for a quote for the latter option.

  6. Marshall VBA400 valve head - 400 watts 8x6550. This is the daddy of all the tube heads out there. Smooth thick tone and all the clean headroom you could wish for. Crank the gain for sweet preamp overdrive - the nicest and warmest of any amp i've tried or crank the master and control the amp with the gain to get some power tube involvement in the overdrive. Single channel with deep and bright switch on the output, simple preamp with Fender style passive tone stack and switchable mid shape for scoop, flat and pushed mid range voice. The high headroom of the amp means that your fundamental tone doesn't fall apart when you add crunch. And the simple EQ means you can easily dial in a variety of vintage and modern sounds. I've had it about six months but have only used it a handful of times as I don't get the opportunity to use it much. The previous owner replaced all 8 power tubes with Marshall branded Svetlana 6550s 18 months prior to me buying it so it should give you years of trouble-free enjoyment. Another advantage of the big wattage is the amp can run a bit cooler than say an SVT which notoriously hammers power tubes. The previous owner had a Speakon output professionally fitted to the back panel which is a welcome addition. Have a read of the manual and reviews online - this amp has gained a great reputation as a sleeper on the market and a true SVT killer with better tube life and reliability. Pair this beast with an 8x10 for the ultimate planet destroyer rig (available for sale separately). 

    This amp is heavy but not stupid heavy at 36 kg - but it's a 400 watt tube head, it needs to be heavy. Look at the size of the transformers in there. I can lift it up on to the 8x10 without a problem. Moving it is a two man job in the flight case though! No expense spared at any point of the amp's construction. Comes with fitted flightcase. Located in St Agnes, Cornwall but can get the amp to Bath with a bit of notice if that's more convenient. You can try it cranked up through my 8x10 (also for sale) at my rehearsal space in Redruth if you like. Shipping not an option at the moment as i don't have a box and it's super heavy in the flight case. Hit me with questions.

  7. Nicknamed The Planet Destroyer, this dreamy cab produces an extremely pleasing warm and thick tone. It's a sealed, infinite baffle cabinet with no ports, like the Ampeg fridges, which means you're just getting the pure sound of the speakers with no flappy woof. Moving it around is actually fine - you just tip it back and wheel it around - I replaced the casters with equivalent heavy duty types as the originals were shot. It's easy to get into the car too - just wheel it up to the tailgate, tip it up and slide it in. You'll need a bandmate to help you get it up the back stairs of the venue, but that would still be the case with a 4x10 and this obviously sounds twice as big!! Having speakers up at chest height is just great for monitoring too. There's something magical about the feeling of it behind you - it doesn't need to be that loud, it just moves so much air. Fall in love with the bass again!! All original speakers, GK bi-amp feature, horn attenuator. This cab is literally indestructible. Only selling as i've just got a GK Neo 412 as I fancied a change. The 8x10 is warmer and thicker but the 4x12 is just a bit smaller and lighter.
    I'd prefer collection from St Agnes in Cornwall but if you can arrange shipping then go for it. Shiply can be very reasonable for stuff like this. When I bought it the shipping was £50. You can even come and try it with your head at my rehearsal space.
