  1. Thanks LC I have tried most combinations and can get a decent sound messing about with the tone and pups but feel its a fine line sounding too flat going too far down on tone and pups. I am chuffed with the Blacktop and its power but its just a personal thing which I think changing the strings will fix. Maybe being too fussy..!! Thanks
  2. Thanks guys..Ill definately change the strings. And thanks for the idea of the flats. Lozz you are bang on with what you say about stock strings, apart from the E the rest sound like a guitar. I'll be changing the strings immediately. Thanks for your help all, I was starting to think I was hearing things...! Cheers
  3. Cheers Neepheid That was on my mind, I'm liking the sound just wanting to beef up a little. Might try adjusting the pick ups first.. Cheers
  4. This is a very basic question for this type of forum ..but I've finally bought Fender P Blacktop and looked forward to plugging away at some punk stuff but find while the E is deep and nasty sounding the rest of the strings seem totally different and "ringy". Would buying new strings fix this and if so which strings are best? If I turn the tone right down It seems to help but might be losing some sound.. Maybe I'm just not used to the sound yet as my old Westone was ancient..has anyone any gripes with their blacktops or are they the dogs..as I thought ??
  5. Cheers Bert I won't talk Doric or weejee ..ill probably use this forum a good bit, I'm more of a no frills Paul Simonon type at the moment but always looking to add to ones repertoire, ken fit I meen.. Got a query on my Fender that I need clearing up..I'll look on the technical forum type bit. Cheers
  6. Peter Hook has the longest guitar strap in the business, almost playing at his ankles at times. Good stance!!
  7. Arctic monkeys bet you look good on the dancefloor..great choon! Heading for sex on fire next...
  8. Definitely go for it. I'm going to see SLF and THe Stranglers soon, saw Hugh Cornwall last year all with big crowds. I had thought about forming a Clash tribute band but your idea sounds brilliant. I've written a couple of punk style choonz , kinda in the style of The Paddingtons. Go for it
  9. Aya aye leen, fit like loon.? I'm fae Eberdeen. I'll try n nae get confused wi the funny accents like. Keepin on muddling thru Cheers
  10. Cheers guys. Hoping to learn a lot on here and have a good chat about music. Not very technical but getting thru a few choonz and enjoying it....
  11. Hi all, new on here. Muddle thru the Bass and practice most weeks with mates. Basic player into old punk , Clash etc and anything else..Just bought a Fender P Blacktop which is probably a bit advanced for me but trying to get used to the sound. Welcome any tips or music chat. Cheers all
