  1. Any string recommendations for my Yamaha TRB5P-II? I’ve been using Elixir Nickels 40-100 with a tapered 130 B string for a while but they’re a little too bright and are a little stiff compared to the Yamaha strings that came on it. I’ve tried Daddario XLs nickel and steels, Ken Smith bass burner nickels, Everly B52 and the original Yamaha’s that were 40-100 with 130 B string. I’d like a fatter tone so would consider going up a gauge but whenever I’ve tried that I’ve found the string tension too high as it’s a 35” scale. It kills playability and changes the way notes evolve somehow. So far I’ve found that to get a good B string tone I need a relatively heavy gauge (130) and tapered end so there is a more definite pivot point over the bride saddle. I really liked the flexibility/low tension of the Yamaha strings but the B string wasn’t great. Thanks, Phil.

  4. Hi The image upload in Basschat doesn't seem to be working. I'll be sorting out an alternative method and providing a link, but in the mean time, if you would like me to send pictures by email, I'd be happy to. Regards Phil
  5. 2000 streamer LX 5 string bass for sale in Honey finish, Wenge fretboard on Ovangkol 3 piece neck. £800. Item location: Leicester. Stunning bass which plays excellently. Will post pictures when i've worked out how. Comes in a Hiscox LiteFlite case, all original tools plus a set of gold strap buttons and a set of gold Schaller strap locks. New barrel jack fitted, upgraded to Just-a-nut III, restrung for sale with R.Cocco handmade SS 45-125. Also supplied with a set of Elixirs that were used recently for setup as a tenor. Other than some tiny dents that all maple bodied Warwicks get, the only cosmetic signs of wear are the following. Belt rash on the back of the instrument. The finish has been buffed to a shine at treble side of the body by the neck. However this is only noticeable close up when the light comes from certain angles. Selling as i cant justify having 2 basses by the amount i play these days.
