To be fair, the neck is subjective, I guess. It was heavily glossed, and didn't feel nice to me at all.

But the difference in string volume was very annoying, and whatever I tweaked, I couldn't sort it out.

I had one of the Italia Z basses for a while. It looked fantastic, but was horrble to play. Uneven string volume, and the neck felt plain nasty.

Exact opposite for me!

I love the Jazz sound, but can't get on with the skinny neck. Best option for me is a Precision with a J pickup fitted for that Jazz growl.

I owned a Stingray and a Thumb for a while. For some reason I sold the Thumb to buy a Jazz - I've regretted it ever since...

Plus 1 for the epiphone. I would also have a look at the ibanez semis. Excellent basses for the money. I think it may have been me singing their praises on one of the other threads!

I think they're completely hollow bodied, so you would actually get a bit more acoustic volume than you would get on a semi-acoustic wih a centre block (like the one in your link).

I've not tried one, but it looks fantastic - I love those hockey stick headstocks you get on Fender 12 strings!

We supported a Free Tribute band some months back, and their bassist was playing one of the Ibanez semis. It sounded fantastic, and I've had GAS for one ever since.

If you're thinking of using a semi unplugged, though, you're not going to get a lot more volume than you do on a solid body.

I used to own an Allegro in a colour which my wife always described as diarrhea biege. That would probably equate to vintage tweed in Fender colors.

+1. I learnt piano before playing bass, and I still find it much easier to visualise scales, triads, chords etc by reference to a keyboard.

I used to have the gb10. Importing mp3s was a bit of a faff, as i remember. I use the peavey ampkit app now, which is excellent for playing along to your iTunes library. And the amps and effects are pretty good too.

I like the pickguard' although a wooden guard on an identical wooden body does seem rather pointless!

The first bass I gigged was an ATK. Lovely basses, but the giant bridge does look odd.

That was the exact line I immediately thought of when I read the OP. Gets me every time!

In fact the whole of the last verse of that song is a great example of how lyrics can really hit you:

Very nice. The Sandberg relics look fantastic in the flesh. Much more realistic than the Fender Roadworn IMO. Unfortunately I'm not in the market for one at the moment, but good luck with the sale.
