1.
Sort out the jack issue first - it may be crossed & touching at the back - then see what happens. You'll need a good quality barrel jack & note where the 3 leads are soldered before you remove them otherwise you might end up going through a PP( every few days. G.
mines is the standard passive bass, and only has 1 lead, from the jack, just had a little gander in the innards, sorry for double posting, im pretty cruddy at this forum stuff
 2.
Fix the jack socket issue, then have a look at this thread - http://basschat.co.u...zzing-problems/ It may well just be that the bass is picking up external interference from the room, in which case there is nothing wrong with the bass at all.
could be, theres a lot of play with the jack when i plug it in just never noticed it until today i think.Think it'll be a quick trip to maplins tomorrow morning if i can for a 99p jack and a quick visit to a mate who has a soldering iron hahah. Cheers for the help, but it does sound like its the jack
 3. Hi im having some issues with my Peavey Millenium 5 BXP and the issues only really started arising this morning which has been a bit of a nightmare. By process of elimination using all my gear and whittling it down by checking all the wires and the bass itself i have came to the conclusion it is the bass.I tried it in both my Laney RB1 and my Ampeg PF500 and the same issues arose that the buzz itself would stop with a slight audible pop when i played any bass line or when my hands or pick came into contact with the strings. I've done research round the internet and im completely unsure as to whether it would be a grounding issue or a shielding one or possibly both and what annoys me more is i have a gig next week and the fact its bugging me so much makes me want to launch my bass out the windows because its the only bass i have in my arsenal for the stuff we play until Christmas that is when i get my backup.. But anyway any help would be greatly appreciated and some help into how to approach the problem (im a little bit wary of the innards of a bass despite my dad being an electrician lol). Cheers for anyone who drops by and points me in the right direction P.S- my input jack has been slighlty loose for a month but it never seemed pervasive and it might be part of the issue?
 4.
Welcome to BC, You've come to the right place with your gas syndrome.......or the wrong place. This place is huge, and a great help. Cheers Leen
haha probably the wrong place man, im always near enough buying gear and then talk myself out it at the last minute which is probably a good thing and what makes it worse is i get paid weekly
Hey Alan, Welcome to BC. What a nice introduction. I can smell your GAS through those lines. Love the Terror Bass fund and the LOL ar Laney. Surprising how those Laneys do anything from grindcore to deathcore, hardcore, punk and all the way to practising folk music at home! "Six Feet Closer to Home" is brill! Enjoy, and post here when you're six feet further away from home. best, bert
cheers man and yeah the laney's a little beast i've had it for near enough 3-4 years and its served me well but now i just want a bigger rig playing in a band, and honestly i've never fell in love with an amp then i came across the terror when i was playing in Falkirk on Friday night and everything changed Im thinking of throwing a laney nexus 4x10 underneath the terror but i'd really need to get my hands on one before i commit to saving for one aswell, but i seen a couple bands use RB9's live but they just arenet my cup of tea
 5. Some of us have off days think its just part of playing I'm like that last time i was sitting trying to learn an Ingested song and just got nowhere with the chorus despite the day before getting the intro and verse down without much effort. Think its just basically part of playing my bass playing ability seems to differ from day to day, i tend not to perform as well at night unless im at a gig i'll play out my skin and go as mad as possible hahah seems to be my little trait now.
 6. Thought i'd just pop in and say hi im Alan to everyone and this being my first post and all its probably the best time to do it I found this webiste through a work mate who i was speaking to about gear and played with us on Friday night in Falkirk which was a nice wee gig i might say and i found out bout this site and decided to join up since i thought it would be a good idea since it seems to have a lot going on for us bassists eeh. Well anyway here a wee bit bout me im 21, play in a wee band called Six Feet Closer To Home and only been playing with them for just shy of 2 months we play mostly deathcore but honestly nowadays we kinda never ever settle on a genre despite what the songs on FB show those are totally different to whats been written the past 3 months as we tend to have more melodic riffs now partially inspired by me. My music tastes pretty varied aswell i do love a lot of metal but i always have a soft spot for Hardcore and punk im pretty open minded about music aswell although i do dislike hardstyle and the likes i will say that Anyway i'll hopefully be posting a lot in and around, but knowing me and my GAS i'll probably lurk around the boards where people are selling gear hahah.
