1. G&L Tribute L2000 4 String Bass For Sale

I purchased this about 5 years ago on Basschat, but it's had very light use since and I don't get the chance to play much these days, hence the sale. There are a few small blemishes and scratches on the surface of the body but it's in very good condition overall. Plays lovely and has a range of tone choices thanks to the pick-up options, bass/treble, series/parallel switch, and passive/active circuitry controls on the front.

34" scale

Natural Gloss body

Maple neck

Made in Korea

Serial: 03053111
Price: £350 including UK delivery costs (UK buyers only, sorry)

  2. I only own 34" basses, but I love playing my mate's 32" Fender Stu Hamm Urge I (it's an awesome bass in many respects, but the shorter scale is great). I also had a go on another friend's 33" custom recently, was an absolute delight!

So yes, I prefer something just under 34", but I'm content enough with 34" for the time being.

  3. Very good transaction with Graeme - paid him on a weekend and a couple of days later an extremely well packaged and boxed bass arrived! :)
Top chap and sent me extensive user guidance during our transaction.

Bass was in very good condition and as described. Not had a chance to try it plugged-in just yet, but will post a follow-up feedback for him when I'm able to comment on the whole package.

Thought I might start a new thread on the subject of John Deacon's bass playing in isolation.

On the other thread, I sensed that maybe a few people doubted whether it was any good, or indeed, was it actually him playing at all?

And this is the reply I got from the guitarist in my band, after I sent him the isolated bass line:
"Oh noooo - this track must have been played & loaded by someone attempting the bass line in their bedroom, I just cannot believe that this is what's on the track, it sounds totally different"

So I downloaded all four isolated tracks from YouTube, Bass, drums, guitars and vocals, and spent some time lining the tracks up in Reaper, I have not altered them in any way, no mixing, nothing! just put them together and rendered them.

You can listen to the other isolated tracks on YouTube if you want, but hear is the bass line, and then combined.

    Bass -

    Combined -

The bassline in isolation sounds pretty much on the money to me! We do a cover of this in my band and that's pretty much the bassline I play.

Couldn't vouch on whether or nor that's really JD playing it (it does sound a bit bedroom recorded - but then it was the 80s). However, the transitions and octave jumps sound like the style he writes/plays.

    Cheers!

PS - The combined track bassline sounds a bit out of time! ;-)

    Hi Doc

    1. I'm tempted to say 'shallow C' but to be honest I'm not really up on all those letters. The neck is wide and substantial, but not clubby - definitely not narrow as narrow as a Jazz neck! Finish is semi-matt (to me).
    2. I recently sent a 6-string by Parcelforce and that cost £28.20. I will check out some other couriers and post the results here - not all will offer sufficient insurance cover!

    Cheers

Thanks Japan - will wait to get an idea on the courier prices from you.

    Cheers!
