2.
That would be my doing and my amp as it happens. That gig was massively rushed and running extremely late. The house engineer only had a tall stand for it and nobody was going anywhere near the amp on stage so it didn't matter. Only ended putting it on during quiet sections in the end as the PA was puny and the amp was crazy loud.
Fair enough then. :) I always hate that rush just before doors open and your still sound checking. Crazy things do happen.

I also think you have this competition in the bag mate. I have only seen drummers with that expression on their face and they are strange people.

'BarefacedBass: I guess I'll take two then'

    or

'A little more bass in my monitor please.'
My God i hope you didn't actually have a monitor! :) Im very surprised your even miced up! I also like the choice of cone to mic up on the right! I normally go for the bottom one so it dont get knocked over.

  4.
Well my visit to Jon's wasn't as fruit as I'd hoped. The guitar still needed the bridge fitting and Jon didn't have any neck bolts with a metric thread. However its coming together none the less. He's used a less figured piece from the redwood I gave him to use for my Headless 6.

The guitar will be posted on Monday just before Jon goes to Frankfurt for the MusikMesse next week. Ruby seemed to be in a really soppy mood today as well. Jon and I were keeping her amused while we waited for the CNC machine to finish a run of coasters for one of the craft shops in Bamford.

That dog is amazing! She looks well tough but i reckon she would melt away with a tummy rub!

All these basses look great, looks like they are all worth the wait.

  6. I think its worth buying good quality cabs which sound great over a better quality amp and average cabs.

If you have an amazing head but some really cheaply made and nasty cabs, then then you are not getting the full potential out of your amplifier. Cheaply made cabs have speakers in them which offer a lumpy frequency response which will affect your overall sound. The actual cabinet enclosure itself too will also affect you sound, this includes to wood its made out off, the size of the ports and the amount of and quality sound proofing packed into all the dead spots of the box.

Once again as stated previously, only one person can decide upon which brand to go for and that is yourself.

  7. I have used a peavy fire bass at pretty much every rehearsal studio i have been too (probably testament to how rock solid they are) and they sound great for metal or heavier stuff. Sansamp is also a great idea.

I think i read somewhere that the bass player from Killswitch Engage has his own one and that he sets the EQ on every rented head they use on tour flat so he can adjust his tone via the Sansamp so he can get a consistent sound.
