  4. Hi, I've got an beautiful Trace Elliot V-Type rig I don't use any more so its got to go. The head and cab come as a pair and are in a matching dark green vinyl finish which pre dates the carpet covering Trace used later on. The cab is a 800 Watt (RMS) 4X12" with horn and the head is 200 Watt and all valve. The head pre dates the Trace V4 and is just called a V-Type head, I believe the early models like mine were actually made by Matamp although I've never managed to get confirmation from them. Last year I completely re-valved the head and biased it using Electro Harmonix valves. Since then I've only used the amp for a handful of rehearsals and one gig as its just to loud for me to use for home practice. As you'd imagine the amp sounds very warm and articulate, It's closer to an Orange AD200B than an Ampeg Classic with better build quality than either of those amps and added rarity cool factor. Its in good condition throughout with a couple of scuffs on the back of the cab from transportation. I bought the amp about 2 years ago from the original owner who played in a Brit Pop band. He'd not used it for about 10 years so I think in all its had very little use. I'm guessing the amp dates from about 1994 although I'm not entirely sure. I'm looking for in the region of £900 for the pair and would like to sell them together. I live in Cardiff and viewings are more than welcome. Any questions feel free to ask. Cheers, Steve.

  6. Hi there, I've just picked up one of the original V-Type 220 Watt valve heads. I've opened up the amp and its all totally original, its never had new valves and it was made in June 1995! I was wondering if anyone has any idea on biasing this amp? I've had a good look around inside and I can't find a variable resistor for adjusting the bias with (I haven't removed any pcb's yet.) My only guess is it could be on the top of a PCB or that it could be a fixed bias design. If anyone has any ideas on this it would be appreciated. Also I've heard it mentioned on forums that these amps could have been built by Matamp. Does anyone have any info on this? I'd be interested to know if it was true. Any information will be greatly appreciated!
