1. Any thoughts on fret wear and bottom end ?
 2. Anyone else had a similar experience ?
 3.
Changed the battery?
Yup
 4.
Obvious first question: have you checked the height of the pups from the strings, from low to high?
Yep I've done all the usual things. I even took out the pickup and compared it to another from the same year and they are identical, no mods nor sign of deterioration. I will say that the frets probably could do with a makeover some time in the not to distant future. I don't think that influences the bass/treble levels that much though. Cheers
 5. Got this 1979 Stingray a while back quite cheaply. I used to have another from the same year so I've compared recordings of it and there's definately a lack of "bass" on the current one. It's not a massive difference, but enough that it comes across quite a bit less thumby more trebly. Anyone had this with an active bass ? Any trouble shooting tips ? I suppose it's either preamp, pots or pickup Help is greatly appreaciated. Cheers.
 6.
If none of the fellas here who play G&L can help,I'd mooch about the G&L bass forum at Talkbass or badassbassplayers and ask questions there, I believe one of the guys from G&L posts at BABP. Failing that you could try the distributors here FCN Music or a retailer like peach ideas or Hartnoll guitars I'm pretty sure that if you're looking for another neck you'll have to return the old one cheers

I think dub_junkie is right - you have to return the existing neck. They would also have to tool up to do a 3 bolt neck (they've moved over to 6 bolt for Asats now IIRC), so I think it would be very expensive. You might find someone willing to do a neck swap, but frankly you're better off selling the bass you have and buying one with a maple neck, IMO.
Thanks for the links and the sound advice. You might be right on selling and getting a mapleneck one, only these G&L basses don't sell too well in Denmark (brand not very established) so it might require more patience than I have
 7. Not sure this is the right section for the topic, but I'm a newb so.. At some point I'd like to get a maple neck for my 1995 Asat bass. I've had a quick look in all the obvious places but nothing has turned up yet. Did anyone here ever get one from G&L? How much would that be? Any special dealers who stock up on necks? (long shot, I know) To be honest I'm not 100% certain that this bass is a keeper, but I'll probably modify to see if I can enhance some of the features I do like. Cheers
Actually dont worry I just found a supplier, they have some seriously nice looking basses, I think Im going to get a seafoam green jazz and throw some new pups and a bad ass on it and a white p bass and do the same
Wonder which supplier that is ?
