I see it as cream-colored bass with the paint sanded off the top only?

It usually works in the other direction: human ears hear log pots as more linear than linear pots (counter-intuitive, I know)

Same here: the redeemer is essentially a EQ-less preamp, it will add nothing but extra noise to the existing preamp...

Searching for a remedy to the neck dive problems of my Squier Precision 5, I ended with this rear strap button position:

This ended the neck dive definitely. It stays balanced even with the most slippery strap now...

I have one, it is indeed very well suited for DB transport...

300º (when using leaded 60% solder), 350 or more for un-leaded ROHS compatible...

If you know somebody from custom motorcycle or hotrod/custom cars community, go talk to paintjob guys. They will be happy to help you for a little money or nothing at all if you're their type of person
Modern guitar finishes are essentially car paints and these guys know how to refin and have all the tools and have access to any possible color or mix...

I've one question: was the 72 JB strung with flats?

It is average for a fender-like, not horrible nor excellent ...
I've another 5 string which has better B (homebuilt from exotic wood and with "boutique" techniques, far from the basic Fender design).

I've got my P5 two days ago!

Nice bass overall with few shortcomings:

1) Lightweight body and big tuners making the bass a bit neck-heavy
2) Bad setup - nut grooves were way to high, bridge saddles too
3) Couple high frets, needed to be filed down
4) Mismatched wood pieces showing through the sunburst

I liked them all !

played small gig with a singer from Siberia (awesome stuff, traditional siberian song-based kind of folk-rock).

I've got my B10 just few weeks ago, it is an older one, made in 1995 according to the serial number. What a great instrument I must say!

Mine has dead preamp (but was really cheap so absolutely worth the money), the pickup is wired straight to the jack socket then I go to the outboard Fishman pre, the same I use for my double bass. It sounds pretty damn incredible
One thing I've tried right from the start is putting double bass strings on it. I had one unbranded steel-core set lying around, had to cut them to length; bridge silks go a bit over the bridge saddle, but other than that it worked fine, the bass plays and feels just great!

I mainly play it horisontally like bass guitar. Tried to play vertically but didn't like it for some reason. Double bass feels much more naturally for me than B10 played verically. Tried it with the bow too but fingerbord radius and stand-off from the body is not big enough: it is impossible to dig in well without touching adjacent strings. It can be done as a gimmick once in a gig but not as main technique....

I don't know the reason but I always had better sounding DB recordings using XY stereo mics (small diaphragme condenser), even if mixed to mono later...
