1. I have a 2nd generation BB2 paired with a Tecamp Puma 1000, complete rig bought on here. Sounds awesome. However I do find that up close on stage I find it quite hard to hear (in a covers band with 2 valve amp guitarists) and that's when I've got the master volume dialled at about 2 o'clock, so pushing on a bit. Out front apparently it sounds fine.

In terms of both top and bottom it has plenty for me with good definition, but I'm adding a second one to improve the onstage sound in loud gigs and not having to drive the head so hard. Alex reckons the new ones are louder and may enable me to dispose of the Gen 2. We'll see.

Can I also piggyback on your contributions Toby, I see you have a Streamliner 600? I have a TC RH450 I just can't get on with, probably not got enough personal IQ to get my head round the Spectracomp, was thinking of swapping to a GB, what's the difference between the Shuttles and the Streamliners? Shuttles more solid state? 9s too much power, 6s probably enough? Anybody near me happy for me to try one, you can try my BB2(s)? Quite a lot of contributors in this thread mention heavy bass for STMs but they seem well suited to the Barefaced cabs and in particular the BB2? Any comments/suggestions anybody?

2. I put my Geddy Lee up for sale because I couldn't get the sound I wanted out of it.......then I got the sound and sort of wondered about it..........but then I got an offer at the asking price and I had to honour it.......BUGGER! One day I will probably get another Jazz. Does this happen to everyone or is it just me?

3. Forgive my ignorance. A friend has asked for advice about buying the following bass:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Japan-AJB-M-GMB-Gun-Metal-Blue-Jazz-Bass-Electric-Bass-NEW-F-S-from-Japan/161140873853?rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D286%26meid%3D4410070944684438839%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D1048%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D161140873838%26

Now, I didn't even know that brand new Fenders were being made in Japan. And this looks like a different body shape to what I recognise as the classic Fender style, i.e. it has 90 degree angles to the edge of the body and a flat front (like a Ric), as opposed to contoured.

So are these produced under licence for Fender, are are they a proliferation of copies that Fender is powerless to challenge because they let it go on for decades?

Who produces them, has anybody played this model, and where does he stand in terms of warranty etc?

Sorry if the answers are obvious, they're not obvious to me

4. Reluctantly going up for sale is my black 2007 CIJ Geddy Lee Jazz, acquired on here from Giofio about a year ago. It came with upgraded Fender Custom Shop pups, but I found it a bit growly for my liking and had them replaced by Ged Green, well known North West luthier, with a special winding from Wizard, midway between the 64s and 84s, sometimes referred to as 74s. He also set it up for me. The original pups are included in the sale. Also fitted with Badass II bridge.

It is currently fitted with a white pickguard but a black one is included in the sale. Also fitted with straplocks.

Lovely fast neck with proper black inlays, not painted on like later ones, and nice black binding to the maple neck. Looks really nice, a few hairline surface scratches and one ding to the top of the body as you look down on it round your neck, but nicely touched in (I've tried to take a pic).

Selling as I have an urge for an active bass; I said I wouldn't have more than three basses so it's this one which has to make way.

Doesn't come with a case but I could ship in a hard case which is a bit time worn but would do the job. It's what it came to me in from Scotland safe enough :-)

I've lost the lead from my camera to upload pics so I've used my phone, so I apologise if they're not great. When I find my lead I'll take some better ones.

Price includes delivery to mainland UK but if you collect we can negotiate a reduction. Sorry but don't want to post overseas. Any q's fire away.

5. Sorry for delay, I looked up the manufacturers spec which gives weight and dimensions here:

Still for sale. Front room slightly less like a music shop as Ampeg has gone, but this still needs to go to a new home. Mint condition. If you're local you'd be welcome to try it first. If no interest soon might have to go on the dreaded Fee Bay :o

7. Bought a Tecamp Puma head and BF Big Baby off Jason this week......excellent comms, very prompt dispatch, professional standard of packaging and the gear looked as if it had just come out of the showroom. And he sent a cover for the BF for free! He's also very knowledgable and had plenty of helpful hints tips and advice to offer re the kit he'd sold to me. Top bloke to deal with, have every confidence if you're doing business with him. Thanks Jas!

8. Along with my Mesa Boogie 2 x 10 (see other post on here) I am now selling my Ampeg SVT 6 Pro head.

I realise that these are like buses, none for ages but there's another one on here at the moment (at date of posting), but as we're probably 250 miles apart maybe we'll appeal to different geographical audiences!

Here's the Ampeg blurb:

Ampeg’s SVT-6PRO combines all the beautiful tone of tubes with the solid-state reliability of a MOSFET output stage, to provide massive output and a virtually unlimited tone palette. An onboard 4-Band Semi-Parametric EQ section gives you +/-18dB of adjustment per band, so you can dial in even the most subtle tonal nuances. And the power amp section delivers a whopping 1100 watts RMS at 4 ohms! SVT-6PRO also features built-in Compression at the input stage, and a Tube Voltage control for adjusting the response of the power amp driver tubes.

RMS Power Output (8 Ohms): 750-Watts
RMS Power Output (4 Ohms): 1100-Watts
Preamp: Tubes (2 x 12AX7)
Driver Tubes: 2 x 12AU7, 2 x 12AX
Tube Voltage Control

It's been gigged so has a few surface scratches on the top of the casing but you have to look hard and close to find them. The front panel is mint. When I bought it pre loved it came in a plywood flight case painted matt black which although it gave solid protection wasn't very practical for setting up and playing at gigs so I've had it in a 4u Gator rack case with a Behringer rack tuner. This is very handy, although I realise it's not the creme de la creme of tuners, it's fitted with white LEDs which cast light downwards over the controls of the Ampeg which is both practical and cool :-). The price advertised is for the Ampeg alone with the aforementioned flight case but the rack case and tuner are available for £80-00 if you're interested. NOTE that the lock does not work on the rack case but all clasps etc are perfectly in order.

The amp also comes with the original manufacturers box and protective packaging (see pics).

Collection preferred as this is a heavy unit.

Any questions please fire away.
