  7. Hi, I'm looking for a cab to go with my Ampeg SVT head. So though i'd see what people recommend before taking the plunge I'm looking at an Ampeg B-410 HLF (4 x 10), but i notice some people have found these a bit too boomy sounding I fancy a 4 x 10 coz it'll slip in the boot and is less fuss, would need to be rated 4 ohm though, but I would consider a 1 x 15 and 2 x 10 setup (i dont really want anything bigger coz it's gonna be a gigging rig) I was considering forking out for the Ampeg coz it would be nice to have matching gear, but ideally it would be nice to spend no more than £350, new or used interested to know your thoughts guys, cheers
  8. Hi all, Quick hello from me, I'm from a town called Keighley in West Yorkshire. I'm currently in a couple of original local Rock bands, having reasonable success with one supporting the likes of Paul Weller, Ocean Colour Scene, Dogs, Charlatons, Rifles etc... (off to Amsterdam with Weller in May which should be awesome!) check em out - www.myspace.com/operatorsix www.myspace.com/fifteenstoriesmusic Currently i'm playing a Fender Jazz or a Warwick Corvette occasionally. I use an Ashdown Mag 300 with 4 x 10 ashdown cab, but recently acquired an Ampeg SVT classic so looking for a suitable cab. (ashdown 410T or Ampeg B41HLF) Don't use any effects but have an Ashdown overdrive on order to try out. I've used the same setup for years now basically because i could ever afford a new rig! but now some serious gigs are coming in its time to invest in some better gear and spend some time on the setup. Also i'm on the look out for some Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders for the Jazz Looks like a nice friendly forum this with some priceless info and handy marketplace, so looking forward to being a fully fledged member! Cheers for reading Darren

  10. thats good to know thanks. Although i did read somewhere that with tube amps this can be harmful? but i guess you can't believe everything you read on the tinternet!
  11. I'd be willing to give that a bash, would need some kind of tutorial though, know of anything on here? thanks
  12. Hi all, just before i ask this question, I have read the sticky topics on impedance and from what i can gather, i already know the answer but just want to double check, I'm not being lazy honest! I have borrowed a Ampeg SVT classic head to try out, its a tube amp so it has an impendance selector which lets you select 4 or 2ohms. The cab i have is an ashdown 410T rated at 8ohms on its own. Will I damage the head by trying to use it with this cab? Also i gather that if i ran 2 ashdown cabs rated at 8ohm in a daisy chain then i would be ok as long as i had 4ohm selected on the amp? is there any way of using my cab with the amp without having to buy or borrow another cab? cheers guys
  13. Hi everyone, I've acquired a second hand fender mexican jazz bass, love it to bits but the volume controls seem to be faulty. the tone works fine. Problem is when the volume knobs are at the lowest position the bass still makes noise so i cant turn the thing down, the volume can be controled, all the way up to the full clockwise position, but it just wont go far enough down. Any ideas what this could be? or what to check? thanks
