That's a brilliant price for a superb way to get into 7 strings. I used a GT7 for years and BD version is much better than that! Highly recommended 👍👍

Now that’s a “wow” bass. Superb! 😱😱

That’s a rare beast indeed and so simple. Unusual not to see any contouring on the neck joint and a smaller control cavity. Mine’s got the Demeter preamp and so many wires that I daren’t open the cover!

Thanks for the reply!

Does anyone know a company who can do bespoke inlays in the UK?
I'll either needs inlays replaced or inlays put into a blank fingerboard (not sure which yet). Any suggestions are much appreciated. -
That's a great bass! Many congratulations!!
How did you find the guys at Bass Direct? I went there recently and wasn't that impressed. In conversation, the first thing they did was to slag off the range of a London store. Then another customer (obviously known to them) comes in and they all start looking at his bass. I asked direct questions about the bass I was playing and it was all covered by saying what a bargain it was!
Not wishing to divert this thread, but as you've just made a major purchase I wanted to ask your opinion. -

Here's my 2 Seis.

The 7, nicknamed "Jezebel" was made for me. The 6 fretless, nicknamed "Wimpy" came from The Gallery. I wanted a Sei for 12 years before I ordered one. Just amazing basses.
The whole process was great, but getting to the end was really nerve-wracking. I just wanted to see the darn thing! No doubt you'll be overjoyed with your bass. -
BUMP!
It's a shame I have to sell, but that's the way it goes. Trade enquiries welcome. -

I'm travelling to the south east coast over the next couple of weeks, so it's possible to deliver as I travel down. -

I now have a stack of detailed pictures on Photobucket and videos of the bass on Dropbox. If you are genuinely interested in this bass, please message me and I'll send you the links.

Thanks for the reply!
Yeah I've seen that Mk2. It needs new tuners, the nut has been replaced poorly and it didn't even work when I asked to play it :-)
The 32" scale Mk1 is easier to play and will be great for when I'm too sore to play a 34". -
BASS NOW SOLD
After a lot of thought, I’ve decided to sell my Conklin Groove Tools 7 string bass. I’ve been suffering from M.E./CFS for a few years now and this bass is now too much for me to play. Ideally, the plan is to sell this and go back to a Fender Urge Mk1, a 4 string, 32” scale bass I used to play in the mid-90’s (if anyone has one of those and wants to trade, please get in touch). If you have something that is 4 or 5 string, 33" or 34" scale that you want to trade then just get in touch.
I bought this bass from the States and it’s been nothing short of brilliant. The body is swamp ash with a 1/4” quilt maple top in a wine cellophane finish while the neck is a 7 piece wenge/purpleheart, topped with a purpleheart fingerboard with off-side position markers. The 2 active Bartolini humbuckers have enough output and enough tonal range to cover anything I’ve thrown at it. Controls are volume, blend, bass and treble.
A few years ago I had the bass de-fretted and a ramp fitted by Jon Shuker of Shuker Basses. He did a fantastic job. It’s possible to re-fret the bass and even change the B-C to F#-G if you want to.
This is a big and heavy bass, but one which gives a huge tone. Before my illness, the weight was never a problem as long as I used a neoprene Comfort Strapp (yes, it has 2 p’s !). The strap really did help and I could do 3 hour rehearsals with no problem.
There’s not many of these around in the UK and this one is in great condition. There’s the odd small dent, but they are really small. It’s not a problem to take pics of these, but you have to really inspect the bass close-up to see them. -
Just received a Hipshot D-Tuner that I bought from Dave.
Great communication during a no-hassle transaction!! Many thanks. -

Any pics of the bass ?

That's really great.
I have nothing but respect for anyone who can build their own instruments. I can't even use a chisel let alone a router

Yeah I know what you mean. A mate of has the Studio Elite in Burning Water. I play it for about 5 minutes before giving it back as it’s just too good! We joke that I ought to get my Tyler bass painted in Burning Water for a matching pair 😂
