+1 on the bass cube... very capable little amp, I use mine to rehearse with the covers band all the time and it's got a really good COSM amp modeling section as well as a few effects
Cool ill have a look at the Roland Cube, really like the look of a hartke combo

 5.
MB1. I am a U.K Ashdown Type of Guy! I have also had a U.S Ampeg SVT 410 HLF which also sounded Trouser flappingly Awesome!(with an all valve SVT) Benwhiteuk is Selling a U.S.A SVT 410 HLF at the moment on this very forum! SHAKE YER PANTS!....
could you post the link for the page if possible? Cheers
 6.
Could be something giving up in the crossover circuit, if it has one. It's often just an inductor and a couple of caps, but they can get dry joints on them due to their mass and the bassy vibration. Reflow the solder joints and stick the big things down with hot glue to prevent it happening again.
Thats what I thought originally, I have had the horn replace to see if it is the horn but it seems to be still doing it. I think it must be the amount of air pressure that is knocking a connection on the back plate
 7.
with the backplate off, if you move the plate around (just tilt it back and forth) does it crackle then as well, or can you get it to crackle doing that? it sounds like a loose solder joint or a partial break in one of the wires going to the horn, i know you said you had it checked but sometimes things do get missed. if you can, post a pic of the crossover assembly, with view of the solder joints.
Cant put up a photo at the mo its still at the repairers. I asked the guy fixing it and he says that he has soldered the joints again, so Im slightly confused as to why it is doing this
 8.
Cool! Had a quick listen to get some ideas.. I'm leaning towards the 'in built ' tone of the Ampeg to go with your Sansamp for a bit of bite!
Just not sure whether to go for a SVT 410E or 410HLF I currently have a B410HLF which messed up after playing 1 gig and 3 practices!! Horn has gone strange, so im not sure whether to get the more expensive version of my current amp. Bit put off by ampeg at the mo but I just cant stop loving that sound. Have you had any experience with the new Hartke Hydrive amps? Cheers Ian
 9.
I have a long running love affair with the Hartke 4.5XL as many a BCer will know! Absolutely brilliant!! - I also agree with Ped's first comments about your list of cabs. Tell us what sort of music you are playing /styles etc as it may give us an indication as to what may be best for you. Do you like a dirty distorted sound? or a clear HiFi sound, for example?
First off I have 2 musicman stingrays, I sometimes play through a samsamp bass driver and I have a hartke 3500 head. My main band is sort of punk rock so I want that gritty sound mostly associated with ampeg cabs, but my other band is kind of inbetween gritty and clean, its a bit like Led Zepplin meets the chili peppers and mars volta. If anyone is interest here are both my bands myspace addresses, this might give you an idea of the type of music I play http://www.myspace.com/milloy http://www.myspace.com/messinaband
 10. Im wanting to get a new bass cab, preferably a 4x10 for rehearsals and gigs, I have an ampeg B410HLF at the moment which has a horn problem (see my post in repairs forum). Im not sure which cab to go for from the list below: Ampeg SVT 410HE Ampeg SVT 410HLF Ashdown ABM 410T Gallien-Krueger 410SBX Has anyone had experience with these cabs and if so could you please give me an idea of what they are like, volume, sound, build I have a hartke 3500 head thanks Ian
 11. Hi there, I was wondering if any one could help I have an Ampeg B410HLF cab that has a problem with the horn, when the horn is switched on and I play it makes a really crackly noise, and i dont mean the sound a horn should make. When I take the back plate off the amp (that has the crossover unit on) and play then the horn works fine. Now originally i thought this was a problem with the horn so I took to get fixed and the repairer put a new ampeg horn in it but it still does the same thing. Can anyone shed any light on what it could be? The repairer has checked all the wiring and re-soldered the joints Please help I dont know what to do? Originally I bought the ampeg from sound control off a friend who works there, I don't usually bother with a reciept beacuse i knew most of the staff so if i had any problems with something they just sorted it out for me, but now sound control has closed I cant get them to send it off to ampeg Please help!
 12. Hi, I have an Ampeg B-410HLF, recently I have had a problem with the horn, it keeps making a really nasty sounds that cuts in and out. Therefore I think I might need to replace the horn, can anyone help me? I dont know what horn is in the cab or where I can buy a new one from? also can you buy ampeg horns or are they made by another Manufacturer? If anyone can help please let me know Thanks Ian
 13.
Boss Octave=>MXR Micro amp=>Ashdown overdrive=>Tuner=>Sansamp For the following reasons Octave always first. Sansamp last so you can di your effects also the things you have before it aren't really going to be affecting it. Boost into Ashdown because this will give you almost a 2 channel operation unless of course you just want to make the ashdown louder in which case move it round. Tuner before sansamp so you can tune and mute your output to the amp and pa will also mute any hum mcaused by pedals while tuning so this isn't transfered to the pa as well. Hope this helps
Cheers for the help I will try this out at practice Thanks
 14. Hi there, I have the following pedals and wondered if anyone could give me some advice on the order of the pedals? My pedals are: Boss tuner Boss Octave OC3 Ashdown bass overdrive Sansamp bass driver MXR Micro amp (used as just a boost when using ashdown pedal) At the moment I have the pedals set up in the following chain: Sansamp=>Boss Octave=>Ashdown overdrive=>MXR Micro amp=>Tuner Would anyone suggest a different order or is this ok? should octave go before distortion or after? Cheers
 15. Hi I have had musicman stingray basses for years and swear by them, although I have been looking at the G&L Asat bass. Question: has can anyone give a run down of what they are like to play in terms of sound and neck width, is the neck the same as a stingray or more like a Fender? Thing is I don't get on with fender necks, so if any one bass played one and can give me any help that would be great
