Beaut!

Cheers, it is but like many people on here, too much gear!! colour wise it's more off white than arctic white which makes it look a bit vintage style.

Looking to sell on as I have 3 basses, 2 guitars and a drum kit and room is running out! It's a cracking bass and I'll be sorry to see it go. The cases alone sell for £60 so it's a bargain for someone. It has the odd scuff on the head and has 3 drilled holes where a previous owner has tried moving the strap buttons. Collection or can post for the cost of a courer(about £15) thanks

  4. Russ kindly came down to me at Leicester and dropped off the Tokai Thunderbird that he sold. It really is a cracking bass and Russ is a top bloke and very honest and reliable and would deal with him again any day of the week. Cheers mate :i-m_so_happy:

  5. Remember that if you balls up you won't be shot for it!! You'll either get the gig or you won't! If you don't then it'll be useful experience for the next one! Unless it's a signed band and you would have been an instant millionaire! In that case jump off the nearest bridge hehe ;)

Where does it say Ovation made these?
I found a page on google similar to this http://www.ovationgallery.com/page6stringacad.htm which described the guitar. The model number AOV-170 stands for Academy Ovation 170

What went wrong with the electrics if you don't mind me asking? Do you have the battery cover still?
It was just a loose connection, the battery cover was missing when i bought it. I just threaded a piece of material around the battery so i could pull the battery out when i needed to. Think they're quite generic and can still be bought but i never bothered looking into it.

  9. Selling due to downsizing. It's in reasonably good condition with the odd ding here and there but plays really well has has decent action on it, would benefit from a new set of strings but still stays in tune very well. The odd rust blemish on the bridge and pitting on the tuners too but a good honest workhorse. A previous owner has added a Fender decal on the headstock but it is a Squier! I am including a relatively new fender strap with it too. Looking for £100 collected or £140 delivered(which will include a hardcase) Cheers.

  11. Thinking of selling my electro acoustic as it hardly gets used. I think it's late eighties-ish but can't find much on the net apart from that it's made by Ovation so I guess it's their Squire/Epiphone range?? It sounds lovely through an amp and is also surprisingly loud unplugged( compared to a Stagg I bought and could hardly hear it unplugged!) It is an unusual guitar as it's made of plastic!!! which would make you think it sounds and feels cheap and terrible but it actually makes for a great sounding bass and a 'bigger sound' due to the acoustics of it. There is the odd mark, mainly a scuff on the back where I had to hacksaw the rounded off screwheads to get the electrics working again!! (pics below)and as a result the switchbox only has two screws holding it in place which is doing it's job well enough. Has had new strings . Looking for £90 collected. it does come with a gigbag to keep it safe. Thanks.

So, in conclusion; technically they are equal (ie both are parallel) and will make no difference to amp or speaker which way you connect. However, 2 separate leads give the marginal bonuses of security during a single lead failure, and fewer connections for the signal to pass to the second cab.

Perhaps some modern micro amps are saving space with one output, or saving pennies. Your Trace gave both, just used different sockets for each.

For the OP's amp, just get a speaker lead with XLRs and one with jacks and you can run separate leads. Can tie wrap them together so everyone knows they aren't mic leads etc.

Note to Stu, presumably the additional XLR on the back of your Hiwatt is not passing the speaker signal as taking that to any sound desk will melt it. (One reason for using different plug/sockets for different purposes).

I think the XLRs were popular then as pas were becoming big, 'professional' things and used XLRs, jacks were for small 'amateur gear'. Alembic and Jaydee even put them on their basses.

When did we stop calling XLRs 'Cannons'?
I've gone with that option! Bought two speaker cables, one XLR and one jack and connected separately. Cheers everyone for there help on this.
