I only saw that a couple of days ago! I think you have had a bargain there ;)

Do you agree they have some kind of extra magic? People think they are just the same as an EBMM but the only parts that are interchangeable are the tuners, so they only look the same really!
All I can say is that nothing on this planet sounds like one of these.
I am no historian but I know Leo Fender 'over-egged' the top end of the Stingray because of his hearing.
Something changed when EB took over, they just mellowed the sound.

Is that the '76 sunburst one ? If so then you have just taken home what looks to be a rare and very beautiful example of a truly iconic bass. I hope you will posting pics and
be letting us know how you are getting on with it. Enjoy !
Yes, that's the one !
You just know when things are right for you & this was.
I bought it warts & all.
I'll get some pics up soon.
Thankyou, Chris

Hi folks,

One of my favourite albums is 'Strange Kind of Love' by Scottish band Love and Money. Bobby Paterson is credited with the bass duties - if you get a chance to hear the album, take it - There are some great basslines on there (very funky) and it sounds superb. The bluesy lead guitar work is also awesome.

Finally, the band split up not long after making that album - If anyone knows what Bobby's up to these days, I'd be interested to know. Cheers.

Steve
I was gonna start a post for the late Bobby Paterson, but you already know about this great player !
One of the best examples of how a 'Stingray' should sound.

This guy was mustard. There should be some recognition for him on this forum, If only for his family.

Chris

She's a beauty right enough.
Already have a fretless but always liked these.
Hols at end of month restricting my GAS i'm afraid.

All the best and good luck with the sale

Dave
Thanks Dave
I hope it does sell to someone who would love it, but it's a tough market at the moment.
Finger's crossed !

Best Wishes Chris
HI John
I'm in Coventry & I will be at home for the next fortnight if yourself or other members would like to see the bass.
All I can say in all honesty is that if you rely on a lined f/board then you really do need to try this first.

Other than that, a stunner !
More pics later today.

Best wishes, Chris

Where?
Any more photo's?
What sort of 'black f/board'?

Cheerz, John
It's a lined phenolic board, Hipshot tuners & bridge with Bartolini's & HR-3 Pre-amp.
Supplied with Hiscox case + Hangtag.

I will post more pics later John

Thanks again, Chris

7. HI to you all

I've found & secured a '76 Stingray at last !
My ZON is gonna have to go to finance it.

£1150 ovno.

With all respect to any buyer's, come & try first.
It's a black f/board with black lines.

It's UK only. Sorry

Thankyou, Chris

For your guitarist
It might clash with the hair !

9. It does look like it's a through-neck Thumb. My girlfriend had the bolt-on & i've gotta say it sounded amazing, brilliant slap sound too !
I gigged with it one night & really couldn't get comfortable. I am used to my Jazz & my Streamer Jazzman. Do try a Thumb though, & the Fortress Jazzman is great. I just loved the Jazzman electronics as you can blend any p-up with a lovely Musicman zing to it.

What about a P-Nut Streamer ! Anyone on here got one ?

10. That is dirt cheap for that head. I paid a grand for mine in 2004.
Amazing amp. The power is massive. The only amp that i've never clipped.
It seems to have gone out of fashion ! Why.

I was gonna sell my Aguilar stuff, but i'll keep it if it's going for peanuts.

Nice man. How different are they to the fender basses today? Is the feel, tone etc a lot different? Would love to have a play on a bass like this one day.
HI Jay. The necks are really slim as they don't have the graphite rods in them as in modern Fender basses. Every note on the neck sounds punchy.
It's the only bass I won't sell & I've had some of the best.
