How does it differ from a P-bass that you despise all aspects of? :P

Hush up, you, he's clearly a man of exquisite taste

Although in seriousness, it's a slightly downsized body to the Fender standard, perhaps that's what's ticking the boxes

Haha! Honestly I don't know, im a lover of rays and jazz's and I've always looked at p's and thought they were so boring and bland, and this one has totally changed my opinion, it's just....... Different, must add that my opinion has been completely based on the appearance as I've never played a p! And this one has persuaded me to give it a try! Nice one doctor j I've got early onset GAS, me and my wallet could possibly hate you in the coming weeks :P

How would a simple man like me (let's assume I'm an idiot and you won't be far wrong) know whether fretwork needs sorting, without taking it to a professional first? I'm not asking to be able to fix it myself, just get an idea if it might need fiddling with.

    This!

  6. It's a brand new bass, so fretworks fine, it's just literally truss rod and bridge, new strings and new pickups! Seems to be a guy in harrow on that list! Which is a stones throw from me :D

  7. Reminds me of story, my bass tutor went to New York, while he was there he saw a Gibson (l5 I think) and ended up buying it, about $15000 I recall him saying, spent 2 hours arguing with them to either let him insure the guitar or let him put it in a stowaway on board, in the end they agreed for him to bring it on board! It got home safe and sound :)

Would have had a '1' in front of the normal price. Cant remember if it had string through can you?
    [/quote]
Can't remember at all mate, I think it was £1400 or there abouts, the guy mentioned it was active/passive on one of The stacked knobs, I didn't take much notice there was way too many knobs and I didn't have anywhere near the amount of money they wanted, all I remember is it was American, natural finish and a jazz!

The standard/norm is still V/V/T. If it is a stacked pot it is either 60's reissue (they call it a 62 reissue but I have a feeling the VVT was generally in use by 62 and 'technically' the stacker should be earlier than that) or it has had the plate replaced.

Must have been a reissue I tried then!

  10. Reminds me, I bought a vm jazz, went up to check it out, although was going to order on the net, good job I didn't as the one they had boxed up was awful, 3 piece body with the joins clearly visible, the control plate wonky and the controls barely turned, needless to say I bought the display one :) they didn't seem to bothered to listen to my concerns on the other though! Some poor sods probably bought it
