  1. I think that's the 'nail on the head' for me. The Mesa just sounds immense and has plenty of volume for me so I'm fine with that. I have a daft desire to get another Bass 400 (though the M2000 currently going is very tempting) to drive the other cab but that's a vanity project pure and simple because I cannot imagine ever needing to run the 2x15 AND the 2x18 - mind you, imagine the sound!

  2. As already said, ther 400+ uses a different power section (more powerful using more valves) and has one extra graphic slider than the 400. Never used a 400+ so wouldn't know the difference in sound.

  3. I don't know any of the techy stuff but my Bass 400 (6x6550 power valves) has ben faultless over the 23 years I've owned it and is running on Winged C valves and it's always sounded great. Always buy valves from Watford Valves and I've never once had a problem.

Now if you had a Bass 400 I'd be offering you the Earth for it!

  4. Unhappy to report that the amp didn't work at rehearsal last night. Rear power light on but nothing from the front and no blue power light. Not great as this is it's second outing!! That said, Andertons have been great and will swap it without any quibble so full marks for after sales.

  5. I might qualify for a record! I've had my Boogie Bass 400 and Diesel 2x15 for 23 years and wouldn't dream of using anything else. As soon as I heard it I knew I needn't ever buy anything else. I notice Sting and Macca caught up with me after a few years!

I started out with 2 cabs but just never needed the pair. I use a 2x18 for outdoor shows as you lose some bass outside and the 18's are just the job.
