1. You wont regret getting one--theyre great basses and extremely well made. That LE looks great--problem with shipping over here is Customs/VAT--its about20/25% of price plus shipping and although euro is strong to dollar its still pricey. I got my L2000 thru small ads from a guy who stated hed brought in in from Germany---theres only one dealer over here that deals in them and last I saw had a meagre 1 in stock.

2. Can only speak of my experiences in Ireland--over here they are very quick to put on Customs and Excise charges with almost anything of any value from States---the bigger the size the more likelihood of being stopped. Imported a Sting 51 Precision reissue /replica from US some months ago---got an email from Customs saying they had it and wanted to know value or price I had paid--I provided copy emails with seller and fair enough they agreed price was ok and then charged excise etc--over here it equates to roughly 25% of price. Having said that the price diff/exchange rate is so good you cant lose even adding on 25%---and that goes even more for you guys in UK--sterling/GBP has never been stronger. Most shops such as Bass Centre in Florida will export and do a good job on packing- Id certainly buy again over there --prices in Dublin are outrageous for any decent bass.

3. Beedster hit the nail on the head--its just very hard to describe the difference.Ive flats on my Sting 53 P Bass and just love the feel and sound--Im seriously thinking of putting flats on all my basses. The only thing I prefer about rounds is sliding --it feels easier on rounds.

4. I was feeling guilty with 5---had 2 for many years-an Aria SB Pro II fretless 4 and a 1984 Wal but had always fancied a change-
Current crazy Wal prices persuaded me to sell it and its funded a MM Stingray 5 w/piezo,a Warwick Streamer Standard 5,a G&L L2000 and a Black Rose TeleBass( Warwick & Black Rose bought on this site).
Ive just got a Fender P Sting 53 reissue from states and big problem now is which one to play each time---having seen amounts other parties have I dont feel so bad--I can now point out this to other half.

5. Looks great to me--I love the precision body . Saw Pratt playing with Roxy last year and he was great--although the show was billed as intimate it was really a warm up for some bigger gigs and the band were a little under-rehearsed--happens a lot over here.

6.
I followed a bass on eBay with interest last week as it is a Warwick and it's also fairly local to me.

It didn't meet his reserve (only bid up to £620) so I contacted him to find out if it was a million miles away; he wanted £850. Fair price but not my cup of tea at that price.

It got relisted and lo-and-behold bid straight up to £800.

http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V...em=200117905169

I clicked to view the bids and can not get my head around how it is showing £800!

eBay works whereby it only shows the next step up from the previous high bid, by my reckoning it should be showing a max of £10. It's almost immaterial that I think the guy is shill bidding as the high bidder has an 84% bidding history with the seller!

My query is really about how is the price being displayed as £800 when the guy who is the highest bidder is bidding against himself... that shouldn't happen, should it?
That so typical of EBay--they dont care as they will get sale fees in due course or at least a fee if it fails to sell--ive tracked a few things lately and despite a low starting bid and low interest all of a sudden the price rises close to sale date due to bidders with history suddenly appearing--if the associated bidder doesnt flush out a genuine buyer then its back up a few weeks later. This getting a mate to bid up price is happening all the time--its impossible to really find abargain anymore.

7.
This ends in the morning, I for goodness sake hope that no one loses out £300.
I once saw a 'PERCISION' bass on Ebay a few months ago. It was a 'given by my dad' 'been in the attic' job, with a pic of a '70s Precision. It sold for £680 I think. I caught up a few weeks later; no feedback was left by either party. I emailed the buyer, no reply. My guess he'd either topped himself or just given up on Ebay.

Is it worth the risk for something real special?
paul.
Well its gone now for 300stg--he never responded to requests for details, location etc--lets hope whoever one gets it--a bargain at 300?

8. I think he was a master of playing the right thing--I dont think he was a flashy player but someone who could come up with the most appropriate lick--that in itself requires talent. His work on Sheer Heart Attack is brilliant.
As mentioned above what is he doing now? He doesnt seem to have reenlisted for any of the Queen gigs with Paul Rodgers or even prior to that.

9. Mainly indie, reggae, blues. The Dublin live scene is vibrant with a lot of pub type venues available--a lot of bands still use Dublin as a start point for European tours.

10. Hi--its getting hard to keep up with all these registrations--I had just joined Bassworld when it hit the skids and Basstalk was just getting going -lets hope this is for good.
Im living in Dublin and am a 47 yr old Bank manager--there Ive said it--its good to get it off my chest!
Had played a bit in my younger days but hadnt seriously practised for a good few years--kids,etc.--then I offloaded my 1984 Wal bass some months ago when prices were reaching ridiculous levels which meant i could afford a few new additions--Im currently playing a MM Stingray 5 w/piezo and a G&L L2000,and recently purchased a Warwick Standard 5 string and a Black Rose Tele Bass from two members of Bassworld--Im now offloading an early 80s Aria SB Special fretless 4 and a Warwick Rockbass Fortress to make room.
Have found these forums to be easily the best around as nobody is trying to score points or outdo each other and everyone can have their say--some like EB MM are very limited in voicing any criticisms.
Regards
