Hmmn we seem to have similar music tastes bubinga. I started off loving rap.hip-hop then wanted to play some of the bass. After some research I realised most were sampled from old funk/soul tracks and started listening to that.
Favourite has always been Ice Cube. To be honest the beat/rhythm is the main thing for me. I don't really listen to lyrics.
Strangely only recently discovered EPMD

Supposedly the first rap (I think):

The best thing about Rocksmith is CDLC. I've made a fair few myself, easy to do.
Check customsforge.com for them. -

Out of the endless stream of country music my brother plays, these are probably my favourites:
George Strait
Alan Jackson
Toby Keith
I can't imagine playing bass to any of the songs though. Especially things like Amarillo by Morning - George Strait, its all about the vocals. -
Wow, that live clip is great! I demand more.

Holy smokes, that is horrible.
I used to love hip-hop and rap growing up but I seriously can't stand any of this new garbage. Give me some early 2pac or ice cube any day. -

I started out pretty much exclusively playing slap bass. Now that I play more finger style, I really hate playing octaves. Just wondering if people had any tips? Obviously with slap its incredibly easy (and natural for me) whereas with finger style I can never get comfortable. I'm not sure if its better to move my hand or to keep my fingers in place (if its just repeating the same octave), or just use my thumb and fingers (little trick as I don't have a floating thumb technique).

Been watching a lot of old French movies lately. Big fan of the composer, this song in particular has a nice bass line as well.

Right now... probably Good Times by Chic.
If I could play them 100% it would be:
Parliament - Give Up The Funk
The Allman Brothers - Jessica
Brothers Johnson - Get The Funk Outta My Face -

I would add - its one of those weird things where you pick up things over time. Some of the fills/techniques I use I'm not even sure what I'm doing, they are just things which I have picked up from messing around. Basically, there is a collection of little things which work, like a database, which builds up. Left hand percussive slaps can often add subtle differences but it definitely seems more "feel" orientated.

I think some Stevie is a good idea. Maybe Master Blaster? I've also been a fan of that.

Thanks, love Vulfeck and always wanted to learn some of their songs.
Agree with above though, I'm a bit too nooby to read the tab properly it seems.
