Vanderveen

Hi all!

 

It’s a long shot, but I am hoping someone here knows of a 1963-64 Precision veneer neck that was mated to a 1983 JV Precision body. Both refinished, the body from sunburst to Fiesta Red. Tort pickguard, non original. 
 

Supposedly it was done in the UK - the basscommunity in Holland is quite tight knit and I suspect here as well. I am interested in hearing if someone knows something!

 

It would have been some years ago but combinations like this don’t show up that often… Fingers crossed.

I don't know why people think that's a fretless bassline... It sounds to me like a J with the bridge pickup fully open.
Plus, there's a really bright pluck in the song somewhere.

And well, if it starts with a B (The S/N), its a 85-86.
I didn't know these were made before the 90's! I always thought they started making these at the end of the 90's.
Mine's a 94-95.

....And the Sandberg is gone.
I put it on sale monday when coming back from school, and found out the local bass shop had a pre-owned Fender Marcus Miller Jazz IV for sale for €900. Went there the next day after school, played it, and fell in love. I asked if he was in for a trade (This is the same shop I bought the Sandberg at two months ago), and after some thinking he agreed. I was so happy, I was home in half the time I normally am, and went back with the Sandberg to finish the deal!

It's a beast, a very special bass.
In active mode, the fingerstyle is bassy and warm, and when you switch to slapping without fiddling with the EQ, the slap is perfect too. I like this thing!

Here's my only white bass.
It's made out of a Fenix body, scratchplate, and bridge, a Allparts fretless neck with ebony fingerboard, J-sonic pickups, and the usual CTS/Orange drop electronics. I traded it for a H&S Sequoia 6 string, and I'm really happy with this. Just needs a good setup, which will be done by it's godfather.

It's one hell of a stack though...

Ampeg PF-350 and an Ampeg PF-115.

Just bought a Warwick ProFET 3.2 though, may as well do the job of livingroom amp.

I have Amplitube 3 on my Macbook, and when I don't want to record anything (I use Garageband for that) I use it.
Though, I usually turn amplitube off, with the on/off button in the program itself.
So I have no amplifiers to choose from. Just the plain sound that comes out of the bass amplified as clean as can be.

Well that is because that one's not actually mine!
I borrowed it before the Sandberg arrived wich was delayed. A great bloke from a Dutch forum lent it to me, to have something decent to play on. Then two weeks later, my own MM arrives, and tadaa! Three beautiful basses in tha house.

God I love these badboys.

I owned one, and the tension was okay for me back then!
Granted, it was my first real bass, so I didn't have as much knowledge and stuff to compare it to.

I created an account here to PM oli@bass for a potential trade, which did not work out.
I thought well, another bass forum is always fun!

My name is Maas van der Veen, I'm 18 years old and I live in Bussum, Holland.

I have been playing bass for 2 years now, and I'm really enjoying it.
My Gear would be this:


A Musicman Stingray4 2EQ. I got this bass for my 18th birthday. My father always wanted to buy me a watch from my year of birth, but when I showed him this bass for sale, which is from '93, same as me, he obviously decided this would be better than the watch. And goddamn, I absolutely love this bass... It's an animal!


And a Marcus Miller IV, this is a beast! Got this one yesterday, traded it 1 on 1 for the Sandberg TM4 at the local Bassshop.

And my Stingray with the old Sandberg.


I run these trough a bullet cable (24K tips, nice!) into a Tascam interface, which plugs into my Macbook.
From there it's into the Dr. Dre studio headphones or M-Audio BX5A's.
