Both these Bass's are in as new condition! Both play fantastic but I have a MAJOR Gas attack for a Jazz I have seen so need the cash!!

PM Me if your interested!

2. Postage is liable to attract a big outlay as this thing is heavy....liable to be £20 or more plus I will have to find packing materials big enough so unless you want me to get a firm quote from a courier and you pay the costs on top then, no not really.

Where about are you? Maybe I would consider a meet up somewhere!
Not at all tempted to post this, are you..?
3. Cheers. It sounds very rich and punchy! It's a good cab and now I have three guys after it....perhaps I better put the price up....what's happened? No interest for a few weeks and then in the space of just a fews days, 3!
I'm kinda looking into buying a new amp, and I'll be getting money on monday, so I might look into it abit more then :) Nice amp by the way.
4. Just testing the water here really....

I have decided to try a 5 string bass (on the advice of a friend) but alas cannot get on with the extra string as well as I thought I would so....

Brand new boxed still, 2 weeks old Active 5 string Bass for sale....£150 Plus P+P or collect at that price!

New Elites on (cost £25) and all tools and lead complete!

Details:

Body Basswood with flamed maple top
Neck Maple
Fingerboard Rosewood
Frets 24 Medium Jumbo
Machine H 5 enclosed type

String through Body design with deep cutaway and 2EQ Active electronics. 34" scale with 2 JAZZ style PUPS.

This Bass cost me £ 215 so £150 is a very good offer.

If any 4 string guys want to try a 5 string on the cheap then this is the way to do it!

makes a good "digging in" bass, full sound and that bottom B really hits hard.

PM me if your interested in it!

7. :) hmmmmm

What do you reckon about spector (crafted in Korea) basses and the entry level Performer series.

This one in available used locally. He is asking £175 for it. I can see on the WEB new Performer's at £199.00!

This one is in amber colour, has a straight neck, just a couple of superficial marks, nothing too big...

Anybody tried one?

It's seems to play really well.

here is a link to one just like it on ebay which is only $175:

8. I am not currently in a band either and probably not going to be for a while (work / family commitments) usual stuff but in the last few years returned to the low end (used to play in a band when I was 17)!

I am happy with my setup:

MIM Fender precision £400
Ashdown Eb12/180 (180 watts) £ 180
Ashdown Mag 210 D £ 160
Zoom B2.1u £ 80

Recently bought (year ago) a Squier VM Fretless Jazz £ 215

Was going to sell that to fund another bass but been hit by a BIG bill lately so that's off...but wow what an amazing bass....been too busy to use much so decided to re-string and thank god! The roundwound strings were NOT the right thing. The flats sound incredible!

I know you said the Fenders are not what you are looking at but I have to say in your situation, much like mine I guess, go for a good mid range Bass. All the BIG companies do great basses at around £300 to £500, read the reviews on here (the guys on this site are an incredible source of expertise and help) and generally on the web (I know what it's like trying basses in shops, I know where you are coming from here) but take somebody with you that knows what your looking for and knows what they are doing. Why spend 2 grand when you can easily get away with a thousand or less. My kit is awesome IMHO. Great sound, almost too much at 180 watts, capable of being gigged eventually if you change your mind (Mag 210) and you can just NOT plug in the cabinet and leave the combo as is for now.

All the big makes do excellent mid range combos:

Ashdown / Laney / Ampeg / GK / Mark / Fender etc

that's IMHO anyway.....good luck.....

PM me if you want more of a chat.....where are you?

9. *** WITHDRAWN****
Saving up for another Bass and this has to go to help so offers around £140

PM me if interested. This time it has to go to make way for a Jag!

NO MODS, several months old only. Plays fantastic, nice low action (not gigged) and straight neck and recently restrung with Fender 9050 flats.

Pick up advised but I have a box and would be able to courier for around £20 or so. I would be able to deliver locally as well.

I live near Worcester Junction 7 on the M5!

May the BUMP be with you!

10. Thanks guys....

I have tried the following:

Taken the scratch plate off the P and examined it (interesting)!

For a Mexi it's well put together except.....the main jack socket had an interesting joint. In fact the joint was shorting out on the pole when the jack was inserted! This would increase the resistance if I am right and gave way to scratching noises as well as the clipping. Anyway, after a bit of soldering and bending of spades the bass now sounds much cleaner! It's not perfect but is much better.

I am now maxing the volume on the vol pot too. I think it has improved what with the these 2 things definately. Thanks guys, good one.

Also, I have to agree that my EB does "warm" up definately and it gets better. I will probably invest in a set of PUPS as well. the others are ok but they are quite noisy is has to be said. Cheers

11. Guys,

This is a weird one.... :)

Been playing with my Mex P Bass 60th Anniversary with no issues.....for 6 months since I had it

Traded up my 65 Watt Laney combo to an Ashdown EB 12/180 Combo with Mag 210 and now....

My P Bass has "grunge"! Not bad but noticable if I roll off the treble particularly. My Squire VM Jazz fretless has no issues but then has Duncan PUPs in. Do you reckon it's because my Ashdown gear is louder and so am able to notice it or maybe these P bass pups as standard are just like it. I had never noticed it before. Perhaps I ought to change out the pups! Which is best, EMG, DIMS, Duncan, Vintage?

Tried different cables and sockets and different pot settings. My usual is about half way up on the volume pot on the bass and half up on the tone although that changes from time to time depending on what is being played of course.

The previous combo wasn't ever loud enough to notice I think but this new Ashdown puppy is seriously loud and is noticable now  .

Any ideas anybody?
