1. Hey all,

Got to the gig last night to find that 1 of my cabs has blown :) . Can anybody sugest a replacment or what I should be looking out for?

My rig consists of;

15 Band sterio graphic eq
Into a 900w head - 450w P.S. @ 4ohms
Into the Marshall MBC 410 & 115 stack

Both cabs are rated @ 4ohms, the 410 is 600w but the 115 is only 300w.

I need to replace the 15" as i think its blown because it was farting like crazy during sound check so in the end i didnt use it.
I've been looking around on the net and the only driver i can find which i think will do the job is this;

http://www.lean-busi...r-15-p-547.html

Celestion BN15-400 - 400w @ 4ohms but it costs a fortune.

I've looked a a few from Eminence but they are all rated at 8ohms for some reason.

So anybody with any sugestions please give me a shout, I believe im after 450w or more @ 4ohms.

Right thats that bit, now for the complicated bit :)

The cab also has a tweeter in it, and i believe a crossover. Would these affect what driver im looking for?

E.g. if the tweeter is rated at 8ohms (i dont know if it is) can i get say a 500w @ 8ohm driver as long as they are wired right?

Thanks in advance
Chris

2. Hey all.

I'm planning on building a couple of 1x15 cabs or a single 2x15 cab.

The speakers I've got are rated at 250w@8ohm each.

The amp I'm planning on using is rated at 300w@4ohm or 450@2ohm

Is it possible for me to do this without blowing the speakers or overloading the amp?

If so how?

Parallel or Series? etc.?

All help is greatfully recieved.

Cheers
Chris

3. Hey All,

I'm selling my Marshall MB 450H Head £200.

Only seling because I changed my rig to a power amp with seperate graphic eq a while back.

I was planning on keeping the head as a back up amp but due to tight funds it has to go.

5. Cheers for the help guys, so just to se if I have got this right, use some sort of oil - dainish, teak etc. rub in a a lot of thin coates then rub in a beeswax coat for finish (but i would need to keep doing this over time)?

If i was to do this I would not need the body lacquering?

I'm also thinking of a maple & mahogany neck, could I use the same technique on this?

Thanks very much guys.

6.
Nice first build.

Does the laminated body make the bass quite heavy?

How have you wired up your pick-ups? Volume plus Tone and a pick-up selector switch?
No the lminated body is no heavier than if it was all mahogany.

and I messed up abit on the wiring which as im sure you know std. Jazz has 3 pots ...... thats was the plan.

but due to where i had located the jack socket, when the jack was inserted it was touching the back of the 3rd pot.

The hole was already drilled so I had to do something with it so i was going to put a 3 way switch in ON-ON-ON but couldn't get my hands on 1 so its just an on-off switch at the min.

So the set up is 1 Volume - 1 Blend pot (also acts as a tone pot if you like, blending the sound form each pup) - 1 on-off switch.

7. Hey All.
