Nice one Barrie. 2xAguilars AND your (soon to be mine) RH450 should be brilliant!

2. Sorry didn't mean to post this. Where the Delete button?

3. Hi
Need advice on price please.

A nice Rick 4001 has come up that I’d really like to get my hands on but need to raise some cash so I thinking of selling my Jazz deluxe to help finances, but not sure what to ask.

I don’t want to take the pee as I’ve had loads of bargains myself from basschat.

What’s good about it:
US built Jazz deluxe circa 1998
Great neck
Sadowsky pups
Sadowsky Preamp + VTC
Burgundy Paint job (original)
Fitted case

What bad about it:
5mm long dent on front of body (from previous owner)
10mm long dent on back of body (from previous owner)
Some of the grub screws for adjusting the action are slightly burred as the previous owner obviously didn’t have the correct size hex keys.

I’m guessing by looking at other Deluxe’s on BC that £850 is a bit steep but I’m nor sure how much the Sadowsky kit will add to the price.

Let me know soon please as I’ve only got til next weekend to raise the cash or I'll have to keep this (no bad thing though as I want this and the Rick :):-) )

Thanks for looking.
Graham
I saw this neck mounting kit, where basically you install externally self-tapping brass ferrules that also have a normal threat down the centre hole. This means that when you install the neck, the screw holes are more or less impossible to strip and you can take the neck on and off as often as you like, and you get a better contact between neck and body = more sustain and tone. I thought something like this would be ideal for the bridge as well, as you really get a good chunk of metal right down in the wood of the body, and you can get a good tight fit of the bridge onto it and really get those strings resonating the wood. I'm going to try this method with the custom build I'm working on (probably with a BadassIII or Hipshot through body mount for even more string/body contact). I'll post the results in a few weeks.
Sounds intersting, let us know how it goes.

5. I know this is an old thread but I couldn't find anything else on Badasses.

My problem is I have purchased a s/h USA Jazz deluxe (circa 1995) and whoever had it before had tried to adjust the action with the wrong allen key so all the grub screw slots are rounded off. I can just about adjust the height by loosening the strings and turning the grubs with needle nose pliers but thats not a great idea so my 2 questions are?:

1. Can I get standard replacement grub screws?
2. If I decide to use this as an excuse to but a Badass III will I need to rout the body to accomodate the low action I like. Btw I have read the bit above about shims etc but that sounds too technical for me! I just want to do a 3 screw conversion

6. Thanks to everyone for your advice.

The blue light isn't on constanlty but is flickering most of the time but I do usually have the bass control on the LMK boosted a bit, and the bass, treble and treble boost of the VTC is usually pretty cranked up too! So I guess I should back off a bit eh!

Pete, could you let me have that email for the customer services guys please.

Thanks again, Good old BC always gets results

Cheers

7. Hi All

Just needed a bit of advice please.

I recently brought a Fender Jazz Deluxe second hand from GAK in Brighton. It’s a lovely bass and came already modded with Sadowsky pups and Sadowsky VTC preamp.

I’m playing through a Markbass LMK.

Because the output of the Jazz is so high I’m having to set the gain of the LMK so low that it’s almost impossible to avoid the blue clipping light coming on most of the time. The gain is set at a fraction of a % past zero.

Am I being stupid and missing a switch for active basses on the LMK? Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

8. Hi

On Saturday I succumbed to GAS and brought a s/h 4 string USA Jazz Deluxe from GAK.

It's kind of Burgundy colour but has a black pickguard. I reckon a torty or pearly white would look better.

I've started looking on t'web and there seems to be a few places in the US selling at about $45 but I haven't investigated shipping yet. So £55 seems about. (I realise this is an old thread btw)

Let me know if you find out anything else

Cheers

I'm interested, but is it ebay only? and where are you located?
