1. This still available? Would you be up for posting this and the hypergravity if that’s still available too?
  2. They're working fine, I've been using up until the last couple of weeks, mostly they just look their age. I was going to upgrade them, but hadn't really felt the need in the end. Sound wise, just a bit of single coil buzz occasionally
  3. From a serial number check, this is one of the old ones from 93 I think. I've had it and been gigging with it for about 6 years now and it's been doing me pretty well. BUT, as far as I know, all original pickups etc. and they're starting to show a few signs of age and wear now. Aside from a few dings in the laquer and a slight chip on the neck, the body and neck are in good condition though, so would do well if anyone's after a project bass. I'll put some photos up once I figure out getting them on here Based in North London, or can sort courier or something. Open to offers too http://tinypic.com/r/2lawyna/5 http://tinypic.com/r/2cdd4oz/5 http://tinypic.com/r/dbtfr9/5 http://tinypic.com/r/rrr3py/5
  4. Right, so I've got a Mexican jazz bass from around 93/94 and I've a feeling that the pick ups have been the same all the way through (I've never touched them and got it about 7 years ago) Seems like the pick ups seem to be giving up the ghost, and I'm wondering what might be an idea to put in their place? I've thought some Quarter Pounders, but I'm wary of losing mid, so toyed with some SD Hot Jazz, but not heard a lot about them. Any thoughts? It's for playing stuff like this http://homeadvantage.bandcamp.com/ I'd originally thought about having a jazz pick up at the bridge and reverse p pick ups at the neck for a slightly punchier pj type thing, but given that the current ones are packing up, I think I might hold off on that and just keep it working for now
  5. So, there's a switch on the back of my head next to where it says about the 8 and 4. Trouble is, there's nothing saying what it does (ie. In for 4) and there's nothing in the instructions saying the button is even there. Anyone know?

    Whizzzy

Bought a cab from Whizzy, who was fantastic to deal with all the way through. Great communication and really helpful. cheers
  7. Could be interested in this. You say your going for a lighter rig, what's it like weight-wise?

  9. Well, an interesting day. Gave the Hartke HA2500 a try out and got exactly the sound I was looking for, with more than enough room for tone manoeuvring too. Anyone had any experiences with it? Seems really good for the price, only thing I didn't really test out was how good it was with loudness. Likely to be alright against a couple of 50 Watt guitar amps? The 3500 isn't a massive amount more expensive, but that's just a little excessive isn't it?....
  10.
What cabs are you using and how much power do you want?
Currently cab-less, going to get on that at a later date, luckily still at the stage where cab sharing is possible/playing places with some degree of backline. As far as power goes....not really sure yet.
How about an Ampeg SVT-3 Pro? A good used one might worth checking out. What transport and cab(s) do you have?
As I said, no cab, that likely to make an easier or harder decision? Transport is a fumn point too, although I've got a car, which is great for out of town stuff, mostly end up carting stuff about on the tube to various parts of London. So weight/lugability is a slight problem, but not one that I'd want to comprimise with sound really.
The bass sound on that first track is ace. +1 for a used Ampeg if that's your bag - you'd get far more for your money.
Cheers, it's not quite what I'm wanting though, a bit beefier, but it's getting along the right lines. I've been browsing at used for a bit, but it's a case of finding one in the right part of the country, wondering how long I might end up waiting for the right one to come along.
you might want to look into hatke or something else along those lines aswell
Had a look at those, pretty interested to see how they sound
  11. Okay, so after playing the odd gig over the last year and borrowing or hiring heads where I can, it's getting to a slightly busier point so I think it's about time I actually invested some cash into buying an amp (just going for a head for now). this is what my band sounds like the bass sound on there isn't quite what I'm going for live (on the demo I was just going through a DI, so it's mostly from effects during the mixing) probably a sound somewhere inbetween the first and third songs, so bassy, but still enough treble coming through to get good definition on the notes. Currently playing a mexican jazz bass (which might get a pickup change somewhere down the line, but not this year at least). Any suggestions? Not really looking to spend more than £5-600. this any good for the money? Popping down to Brighton to have a play with stuff in GAK tomorrow, but wanted an idea of what I should be keeping an eye out for.
