Morning All,
My name is Ian, and I'm a Guitarist.
Still reading? Good...
After a few late-night recording sessions in my spare room, I quickly realised I'd need a Bass Player on-tap.
I decided I'd better learn to do it myself, and to this end, I bought a Squier P-Bass, which now has a single GFS Overwound pup, and a 500K volume pot.
*lots* of growl and bite.
My Bass Playing heroes are Mr.Mingus and Mr.Pastorius - but am nowhere *near* a Jazz player - I just admire their sense of melody.
Whilst I'm happy with my fingerstyle and pick playing, I'd like to master 'slapping' - simply because I like how it sounds.
I tend to play through a Peavey Classic 30, simply because it's what I have to hand.
For me, the single greatest Bassline is the Jackson Five's, "I want you back". All the changes are in there - the feel is there - but there's enough room left for the song to breathe. Perfect Bass Playing!
Cheers!
Ian.
