Absolutely agree with this. The Cure were stuck with the Goth label for years even when playing very poppy songs. Americana seems to be the latest catch all label to apply to artists that can’t be pigeonholed with an existing label.
The Cure were being commercial though. Labelled as Goth because they looked Goth.
Long hair, loud guitars with a guitar solo is heavy metal. Judas Priest had short hair. 👍

I.M. just wrecked my love for them with their keyboard-infused stuff after Powerslave.
However, I thought Geoff Nichols used keyboards tastefully in Black Sabbath.
Looking at the credits for those I.M. albums states Guitar Synthesizer, I was sure it was actually keyboards, but anyway, I did NOT like it, at all.
I struggle with anything after Somewhere in Time. But I will add Kiss to the debate. How the he'll did they get into heavy metal circles? It's pop music!
Metal bands with keyboards is heading into prog rock territory. But then what are Van Halen? 😕

I came across a great video comparing the technical merits of patch leads, but does anyone know of a similar comparison site for instrument and speaker cables?
The Ernie Ball's got a great mention by the way, so they will be on my pedal board.

Get the same as whatever your guitarist uses. They are all very slightly different. Cut down on variables.
The TU-3 is ok but it is a bit jumpy compared to the TU-2 or the Polytune.
Or or do it properly and get a Petersen Strobostomp
Guitarists tune to me 😉
I've ruled out a strobe tuner. I would be spending far too much time trying to get it perfect. What would Jimi do on stage?

So what you are all saying, is that it's pointless flirting and lusting over other women because you are always going to marry and settle down with a P bass. 👍

Easier to dream about the next bass than to knuckle down and practice and improve as a musician/player. As others have noted, you always end up sounding like you. IME the instrument is rarely the limiting factor 😁
It's about the joy of ownership. Owning a Hasselblad didn't make me a better photographer.

A 1970s Gibson Thunderbird I found in Denmark Street. When the guy came back and asked me what I thought about it. I was very disheartened and told him that it felt (and smelt) like a piece of old furniture. Gutted!

AKG 371. Popular in the headphone community as a pleasing studio headphone.

I may have mentioned the war once, but I think I got away with it.

The reason it's so difficult is because the UK side didn't want to allow reciprocal arrangements.
Yes because we don't need a quarter of a million Romanian street musicians. See my earlier point. The country agreed and a Brexit debate is super boring.

I think I want add a tuner to my pedal board just to glance down for a quick confirmation. I still like my Boss TU 12 which I use before plugging in etc, but is another tuner going to give different results? Will I notice? I'm looking at a TU3 or maybe a polytune 3.

What is the reason for plugs having their own fuses?
When the fuse blows, it disconnects the current and prevents overheating and an electrical fire...from memory.

Funny to moan now when you knew that Brexit meant being a foreigner (alien, if you prefer) everywhere with all the paper(work) hassle it implies... It's not political, it's a simple fact.
It's a trade off. Belfast has dozens of 'professional' Romanian street musicians who abused entry requirements, claiming benefits on both side of the border. How can any country know what your intentions are when you arrive?
The reason it's so difficult for you all is because the EU market is a protection racket, they don't want foreigners earning money in their closed market.

I know a guy who owns a record label, he says this whole visas for musicians saga is massively overblown. He can't understand why the radio keeps making it a news feature..for political gain obviously. American musicians never played in Europe due to them not being in the EU. 🙄
Anyway, he knows a girl who issues them, it takes the click of a button to sort it out. A nice earner for her though!

plagiarised? More inspired I would think.
Although now you just have to use the same chords and you are in court.
The feel of a song will get you sued. Although I reckon the woke mob wanted this one taken off the airwaves.

Cheers, my hunch was that a 3A would do it. I should have a dozen of these leads lying about in work...but none for tonight's little Friday night beer and bass 'me time'.

The original 'kettle' lead for my little Boxer 15 amp has gone missing after the other half decided that she didn't want all my music stuff cluttering up the living room. 😁
What fuse should I be using in the plug, 3A or 13A?
Thanks!

I have this pedal still unopened in my box of tricks. I do know that the pedal was modelled on the Billy Sheehan modded Pearce BC 1
Another 'overdrive' pedal modelled on the same pre amp are the Suncoast HD1 and pre amps.

Well as someone who has taken a few long 'career breaks'. Popping in occasionally to buy new stuff...except for those stupid Velcro wraps around the string things.
I'll add Barefaced, Dingwall and octave pedals to the above.

I'm a huge fan of the The Mars Volta and their bass player, Juan Alderete who you may know from his YouTube channel Pedals and Effects.
He was involved in a freak bicycle accident and fell into a coma during our lockdown. He's now in recovery, learning how to walk and speak again.
I thought it might be a nice gesture from the forum to raise some money to help with his recovery. Their target has almost been met with donations from fellow bass players all around the world. So sad.

I'm reading about this Mojo every time I look up something. It's half price at Andertons right now, but I've got a storage case half full of unopened pedal treasures. I'm resisting.
Judas Priest's Rocka Rolla: Hard Rock or Heavy Metal?

Being pigeon holed is essential. You can't market Bon Jovi to a Slayer fan. Guys like Paul Weller are still trading off their Mod image. Apart from the stuff he did recently with the BBC Symphony Orchestra...not really impressed when artists do that...feel bad for the orchestra!
