1. Thanks a lot. Yeah they are pretty crazy! Bet that was a great performance to watch.
2. Hello! Orpheus is a progressive rock project based in Bournemouth inspired by soundtracks, classical, jazz-fusion and maybe even a tiny bit of metal in places. We are searching for a talented bass player. There are some samples to listen to at the links below which feature recent material from our upcoming EP. If anyone is seriously interested you'll need to hear some rough new material to get an idea of where we are now though from the 2nd full-length album we are currently working on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqj4_qLISvo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnk2pCYcgkQ...feature=related http://www.myspace.com/orpheusofficial http://orpheus.ws We rehearse in Bournemouth, but our guitarist is based in Coventry. (He makes the journey here once a month). NB: We have a recording studio here that is owned and therefore not subject to hourly fees or anything. It also has ProTools etc., so life is made easy in both recording and rehearsing. As our Guitarist lives in Coventry we can't have weekly full band rehearsals but the philosophy on that is simple: rehearse and prepare at home for a good rehearsal every month. Separate audio and midi files of the bass parts would be supplied in advance of a relaxed rehearsal/audition. The bass is certainly a key instrument in this project providing key melodies within the songs. The parts are quite tough with a variety of complex rhythms. As there are a lot of additional parts in the music including synths, real piano and extra guitar/vocal ambience we play with backing tracks and a click live. Tempo and odd-time signature changes are common in the music. Some of our influences musically in no specific order include: Art Zoyd, Bernard Herrmann, Blonde Redhead, Dead Can Dance, Depeche Mode, Devil Doll, Devin Townsend, Dmitri Shostakovich, Emperor, Ennio Morricone, Esoteric, Jehan Alain, Katatonia, Marcel Dupré, Mew, Mogwai, Paul Hindemith, Radiohead, Robin Guthrie, Slowdive, Planet X, Allan Holdsworth, Neurosis, Karda Estra, Isis, E.S.T, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Sigur Ros, Tenhi.... This is a serious project and a lot of hard work goes into writing, recording and performing the music. We are looking for a committed bass player who is passionate about the music, a quick learner, technically proficient with a good feel, able to contribute their own ideas and willing to gig/tour in the near future. Ideally aged 18-early 30's. Thanks for reading! Tom [email protected]
