1. Hi!
I've got a Celinder Vintage and would like to lower the string action but have no idea which hex key size I should use. Even the smallest key I have at home that fits my other basses is to big for the Celinder bridge. Does anybody have an idea?

Thanks!

2. Even with my six string I was two upped by the guitarist. :)
He builds his guitars himself and has plans for a resonator bass as well. I'm really curious to how it would sound and how much it would weigh...

3. Hi,
I'm having to little time practicing the fretless intonation and with soon having a baby I'm facing even less practicing time. Therefore I'm thinking of either selling this fine instrument or trading it for a fretted similar one.

The bass is a vintage early ninties defretted six string F bass. It looks absolutely stunning, plays wonderfully with low action and has the best fretless sound I've heard. The bass has two split coil pickups which gives it a really fat and clear fretless tone and features the older preamp mentioned on the fbass homepage.

The bass is in good condition apart from a dent on the bottom of the bass i didn't notice during the initial inspection. I've tried to capture images of the dent as faithfully I can. The unfinished neck also is a bit darkened from playing.

Possible trades: Any fender style bass, preferably a 5str P.
Price: 1700 GBP (Noticeably lower price for a straight sale)

4. I've started by looking at the examples from slapit.com. I created a simple drumbeat in Logic with sixteenth notes on the hi hat, kick at 1 and 3 and snare at 2 and 4.
Then i set the tempo to 30 and started to play the lick until I could play it REALLY CLEAN for maybe ten times and then recorded a few loops of the lick. This was a great way of finding bad sounding parts and try to correct them. When everything sounded great i increased the tempo a little bit and repeated the process. First i increased in steps of ten and then reducing the step size as the tempo increased. Above 70 or 80 i did only increments in steps of maybe 3 bpm.

After a while I could play the licks in a fairly high tempo with good clean technique and it was really fun!

When my slap technique gets better I could probably be bit less rigorous with the method though and maybe start at higher tempos and/or increase the tempo with bigger increments.

I'm also realising I'm much more partial to the soloed neck pickup slap sound. I'm getting more and more convinced of going towards a P-style bass... :)

5. The biggest advantage i think is the extra range. I play with a guitarist playing an eight string resonator guitar with an open D-tuning and often find myself longing for the low D I had with my previous 6 string. I've had no problems at all shifting from 4 to 5 to 6 string basses.

The main disadvantage i think could be extra weight and, for me, a bit less comfort. Also a lot of cheaper basses suffer from bad B strings that have a completely different sound than the rest of the strings and sound like they don't really belong.

6. Chrome is warning me from entering the site:

Anyone else getting the same warning?

7. Dirty Loops are great and I *really* like Henriks bassplaying. He played bass with the swedish pop-metal band Blowsight a couple of years laying solid basslines and riffs but his playing in Dirty Loops seems so much more playful and creative.

I think it's more of a "musicians music" though and not everyone's cup of tea. My non musician friends I've played this for don't like it at all...

8. Hi!
I've got a 4str Sadowsky Will Lee and am looking to trade it for preferably a 5 string. All of JJ, P or PJ are interesting. I'd prefer to change it to an Alleva Coppolo (with cash from my side) or Sadowsky, but other trades in the same price range could be interesting too so keep 'em coming! I also might consider a five string Ken Smith of some kind.

The bass is in perfect condition apart from a small chip in the headstock (visible on pic. 3). It has the thinnest slickest neck I've played and weighs in at around 3,5 kg. It has single coil pickups instead of the humbucking pickups found on a lot of other Sadowskys but since the shielding is so well done any pickup hum is virtually inaudible. The bass also features a mid boost switch not available on other NYC basses which gives the already versatile bass even more sound variations, although it's hard to find any bad sounds...

All in all, this is a fantastic instrument!

Here's a review.
