1. Bit of a bump, it is a fantastic amp just doesn't suit my needs at the moment plus I dont seem to be able to keep hold of an amp for more than a few months

If you like valve tone this is really where its at. I swear not bias at all :)

  2. Just about to reply through PM but I'll do it here :) absolutly no problem! We've all changed our mind during a GAS attack.

Hope you carry on enjoying the shuttle the convience of those little boxes is just staggering I really liked mine. Good luck with finding the right amp for you. I'm still on my search but most don't think I'll ever stop

  3. Well appologies to Etienne I didn't get around to taking some more photos last night the excitment of building pedals and a band practise went on too long.

This is pretty much sold to the man mentioned above pending a trial with a 6x10 this evening and unless someone can come along with a GK 1001RB-II and a matching 2x12 cab for a straight swap?

    Cheers

  4.
Don't get the Little Giant on the basis of cost. As some wise person once said, you'll still be playing through the thing long after you've forgotten how much it cost.

    S.P.
I think more importantly you should not rule out the little giant because of cost either, you may prefer that over more exspencive heads. Also the little giant would have an impact on your cab choice as well I'd exspect. All in the sound though...

The shuttle and the genz will sound quite different apparently the MB2 500 is very similar to the typical Genz tone of the 1001 or the 700 rb so if you like that then that's probably a good route to go down.

The shuttle has the valve pre though which might suit your tone a lot better if you like to drive your sound. Depends if your the clynical metal bass tone guy or the driven to hell type.

Also could consider the markbass littlemark just to confuse things further.

Those comparisons are just from some pretty in depth reading off talkbass as I've only owned and played the shuttle and the littlemark.

  5. **No giants were harmed in the construction of that rig**

If you'd like to instead place the metamp slave in my hands I think it'd be a better trade :)

Cheers for the offers guys but I'm after something new I haven't owned, ortho both of them I wouldn't mind back so you may get a PM if nothing else shows up, thanks though.

Quick list of the amps I've had: Trace Elliot AH300, Trace Elliot V6, Ashdown Mag 300, Markbass Littlemark II, Mesaboogie Walkabout, Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0, EBS 350, Peavey TNK, Warwick Protube IX, Orange AD200

  6. Well I seem to get through amps at a rate of knots this just isn't what I'm after at the moment, just need a touch more clean tone for it to be hitting the spot I like.

So it's up for sale fantastic condition, it has a nice cover that lives over it a tougher cover than normal made out of wet suit type material not the thin plastic type. Basicly about 9 months old I bought it off Basszilla on here and he looks after his gear very well so its in pretty much new condition.

I'm after £800 for it picked up. I could get it shipped but I don't like to ship these big valve amps if I don't have too. I'm now living in Bristol, and I work in Swindon so I can easily get around between those two places, my parents live in Ross-on-Wye and its not to far to Cardiff, also Birmingham isnt the greatest leap. (Can make it up to manchester after September)

Some nice images showing just how new it is.

    Cheers

How does this sound? I guess the EQ01 makes it very versatile but how does it fare at something like a modern Jazz sound?
It's pretty hard to describe how the ACG's sound in my opinon they really are that versatile. The ability to blend between the pickups and use the filter pre-amp just gives you so much range. With the singlecoil pickups I'd be very suprised if you couldn't find the modern jazz tone, I can certainly find one in my Recurve be it a little wider due to the humbuckers. I'm sure Ed might be able to fill you in on that one sorry for butting in I was simply passing through still abit staggered this hasn't sold yet, every ACG I've played has been a very well finished instrument I'm bias of corse owning two but there are alot of un-bias people who agree.

    Good luck with the sale.

  8. The way I see it your saving weight what average warwick / ampeg cab thats a 1x15 is about 65lb. 2x10 I'd say 55lb and this things got 2 15" speakers in it and a 2x10 so thats 185lb. This 130lb cab saves you that extra 2x10 cab 55lb's in weight and has an in build high pass filter. Not to mention it sounds huge. :)

Plus as an extra bit of fun I might just print out a copy of that lovely anime lady bass player above and include it with the sale.

  9. By both i ment the shuttle 6.0 and the markbass LMII. But also as a side note the Shuttle is the new hottest thing so if you can find one second hand you can sell it in hours if you don't like it and don't loose much selling it on either. But I did forget to mention that the shuttle is just stupidly lite i mean it's scary the amount of pure bas tone you can get out of a box thas 3lbs and about as big as a box of chocolates.

  10. I've owned both and they are quite different tones. The Genz is alot more hi-f but coloured nicely with the valve, has more of the highs and has a very powerful EQ. The Littlemark sounds louder simply due to the way they shape the amps out put but thats also why you loose some of the clarity from the highs. Both sound great if i ended up having either I'd go for the shuttle simply for the Valve but I think the littlemarks alot more transparent. The filters on the littlemark are alot of fun as well and once you get your head around them can add alot to the sound, I did find the eq was a little limited for real differences you had to dial in quite alot, if you heavily eq your bass id go with the shuttle. But if you like pure solidstate liteweight great tone ouf the box not much messing the littlemarks a winner.

I find alot more people get on with the markbass tone over the genz ortho i did take the shuttle up to moffat for a bash up there lately and everyone loved that too. If you can try them.

  11. As an addtion if you have no want or desire to do any wood work I'm sure a local carpenture would charge you a few hours work for a small job as such or a local luthier.

  12. You just need to measure the gap you want to fill or the size you want to use. Measure the string height after you've got the action where you'd like and then choose the height you'd like the bridge under the strings.

Find out the radius on your fretboard and then match it on the ramp Cut the wood sand it and seal it with oil or a varnish (which would get scratched quite quickly). Get some nice double sided tape stick it down and there you go one ramp matching your bass in chosen wood and colour.

One warning Double sided tape is not to be underestimated as long as you dont try repositioning it after its first put down, very strong lasts for ages. Also remember if you want to take the thing off one day don't put too much on as it wil never its very strong when applied the the whole of the underside of a surface and pressed into place. It wont come off without you having to damage the bass beneith it. Its strong enough to hold metal down using a lathe, CNC or heavey duty band sander in a workshop, so thinking it will come off without leverage and force is a bad idea. Infact i have a freind who has one on his bass and is waiting for the double sided to get old and weak as he can't get it off at the moment. He didnt believe me when i said it was strong stuff and layering the whole bottom of the ramp was a bad idea. :)

  13. If this is still here after the 24th I'll take it. Untill then I'm broke.

These things are really comfortable to play if you like working things out sitting down I dont think theres much more comfortable. Don't let the Ibanez label put you off its a very unique instrument sounds great. i think I'd pop an ACG pre-amp in it and maybe a Q-tuner pickup and you'd have a stunning instrument.

  14.
AnalogMan Mini Chorus with deep mod - sublime. Everything else I've heard sounded quite harsh and digital by comparison. I like warm and retro, which this is excellent at. It really did live up to all the hype when I played through it and found my personal chorus heaven! :)

    http://www.grygrx.net/Pedal%20Reviews/Anal...%20-%20Deep.mp3
Quite possibly the best chorus around without a doubt. Never should have sold mine it was fantastic.

The 18v Dinoelectro Coolcat is a great cheaper alternative.

  15. I'd be very intrested to hear if anyone had tried the Monte Allums fitted CS-3 against the Demeter Compulator?

Tim how come you got rid of the multicomp how much better was the fitted cs-3? Any perticular quality?

I'm looking for a compressor at the moment from some pretty heavy reading the major contenders for the up to £200 price bracket are:

    Demeter Compulator
    EBS MultiComp
    Maxon CP9Pro+

    Then racks:

    dbx 160X
Aphex 651 (if you can find one)

The ovnilab website seems to agree with alot of reviews on here and also seems to be a very unbiased good selection of reviews.
