1. I have just purchased a mesa walkabout head that replaces a markbass littlemark. I think its fantastic it has a much fuller sound than the little mark bit more top and sings on a fretless.

It weighs in at twice the weight of the littlemark but still light in terms of amps. Tbh for the price difference and it being a heavier amp if i was buying new the littlemark would win without a shadow of a doubt. Cant beat it on price and weight. But the tone the mesa gives out is stunning first gig I did with it my guitarist and drummer were loving it. But i picked up the head for £440 in good condition so I couldnt pass it up and Im not geting rid of it. Slightly heavier but suits my ACG a treat.

Im shortly going to be doing a comparison between the BFM Omni 10 and 10.5's against my markbass 102HF cab with the littlemark and with the mesa so I'll report back.

  3.
I think that would be ruled out on the same grounds as the ramp idea, the strings cover it up and it's asymetrical so it doesn't look as good.
Plus the frets have already been instaled and neck almost finished. Which would be a bigger problem.

  4. Got to be the central possion or the top for me, but the central looks really nice. Ortho the top works well the contour of the bass difficult. Suppose depends how much of a feature you want it to take on. You will always notice it in the centre where as the top postion works well with the shape and wont be noticed as much I feel.

Thats just my 2pence you may think Im totaly off. Good luck with the choice looks completely stunning eitherway. I remember doing the render and not knowing if i liked it or not but in photo's its just breath taking.

  5. What is it with all these 7 peice necks :) think Im missing something.

Glad you like the render the flame really suits Alans new jazz shape I think it looks great. Its going to be a stunner. Once you've bitten the ACG bullet you cant stop.

  6. Just about to reply to all messages. The DD-20 has gone to my guitarist and the pigtronix is on loan to the same person and I have a feeling that will be leaving with him as well.

So just the chorus and big muff left. I'll get pics of both in the morning.

    Plus DHA added to list.

    Cheers.

  7. Ok after getting a multi effects and well tbh its so much easier to setup for gigs than all my pedals were and alot of the time I dont use pedals really anyway. Realised its quite abit of money just sitting on my floor.

AnalogMan Chrous - stunning pedal best chorus sound I have heard from a pedal Im sure people know the rep. Its the mini version with hardwired deep setting so it is optimised for bass. £120 posted

I have also a DHA VT1 Purist - £60 with power supply. posted.

    Cheers

  8. Its well worth the drive it takes me 4 and half hours to get there always take about 4 too get back though go figure.

Its become a classic road trip with one of my mates, alans a great guy and seeing all the wood he has around is well worth it.

  9. Payments always abit of a pain when dealing internationaly. Both times I've done it I took paypal and they took on the charges.

But I have paid someone else through international bank transfer, and also a bankers draft so theres quite afew ways to do it, but both of those require you going to a bank to sort it all out.

Sending things is the pain of all evil unfortunatly we dont seem to have a postage company anywhere near as efficent as other contries. Dont get me wrong royal mail are getting better but not the best. But as warwickhut said france is ment to quite easily turn into a nightmare for things going missing.

I suggest using a company which doesnt change service such as royal mail will porn it off onto a french company etc. Pay a little more and use someone like UPS, DHL or FedEx (Ortho I find UPS to be the cheapest to send almost anything insured these days)

The biggest thing constant contact reply to emails asap, if you get a tracking number or way of tracking something what ever it is give the details to the buyer, means they feel safer. Also just try and be genraly helpful answer questions in full, and with detail. Means things should go nice and smooth.

O and dont send the bass till payments cleared dont take any rubbish, thats the way things are done.

  10. Hehe dont worry I was the one who thought I might have to dodge flames putting fret lines in the neck. I do love the look of plain fretboards but I also like the fret lines.

Its just I dont see any point in not having the lines, and at the moment I need them, and in the future even when I dont I think I would choose to have them too.

Plus when its all strung up with black or blue strings, had the finish put on I think they will suit the look of the bass

  11. Couple more pics:

Well if he persumes that the harlot balances very well, i wear the bass quite high up so its a much more level well than alot of people anyway, and when i had a quick go on alans harlot prototype i think it feels stunning sits perfectly on me. Wear the bass like this:

Excuse the shirt apparntly Im not allowed to gig without it as I bring tropical joy to the stage.

  12.
someone, it seems, likes to have their bass at a very high angle. That's crazy but i suppose that's what makes it nice. I doubt grand designs would have got through the first season hed kevin mcloud not been able to come up with new and imaginative ways to say that for every show!
Ok in the face of seeming stupid I have no idea what you just said sorry :)

  13. I'll pop another vote in for ACG if you can get your head around the Pre-amp I think it would really sort out your problem about getting what ever you want about a jazz sound plus that extra.

I havnt played any off the shelf bass that meets a custom built quality. I dont think it makes any difference between custom and off self for re-sale as long as the builder's well known, I think you would loose on averge the same amount from retail.

Having one made makes finding the bass out there for everyone alot easier to find. Ortho i would suggest trying to play an example of which ever bass you are thinking about buying, I really dont get on with on of the more favoured bass builders on here. Im sure if you got a bass built and really didnt like it the builder would except it back and try to sell it them selves; Unless of corse you ask for something really out there and personal that they dont think they could move it on. But then that should be stated at the beginning of the build.
