I have one and am looking to sell it. Might just list it on the forum later on. Sounds absolutely awesome but I can't get it out of the car by myself.

Besides that, my stack of two Trace Elliot 2x8 cabs is just as loud. Faitalpro speakers kick donkey.

Besides that, I also have a Barefaced Big Twin II.

    TOO - MUCH - GEAR

I'm based in the Netherlands, too, so that would be awesome! I'll PM you.

Interesting basses these. I have a very early one- 1980 according to the man- and the shape is actually quite different. The top bout on mine is much more pointy, this one is quite rounded. There is a routered rebate around the top of mine, which has disappeared here, the pickups have moved (on the earlier basses the neck pickup was further towards the erm...neck), they have changed make (from Bill Lawrence blades to the Kent Armstrongs on this one) and the early ones had a passive tone circuit, whereas this one is active. The bridge on mine is a schaller, same as this,  so maybe the one with the Overwater branded bridge is a very late one? Or did they change, then change back for some obscure eighties supply related issue? Who knows.....

Anyway, fascinating. You have a  lovely looking bass there. Shame these don't attract the same cachet as Wal's, otherwise someone would probably have paid you £240,000,000 for it twelve seconds after you put the advert up. 😂

Given the description, yours must be an Original Series, like the other Overwater I have up for sale, although mine is a recent version with very different specs:

From what I’ve seen, I’d say they started using the branded bridges in the early ‘90s, although they currently use a variety of bridges for their custom models.

I have its exact twin, there is something absolutely magical about the maple board fretless Precisions of that era, unusually for 70's Precisions, I've never played a bad one (and I've played a lot of them).

It's funny. I'm not a big fan of fretted maple, but fretless... Sublime!

  4. NB: the Tone Hammer has been sold.

Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 incl. Aguilar bag and DB 210 in 'Classic Black' incl. Aguilar cover.

Both the amp and the cabinet are in excellent condition. (The amp looks unused and even includes the original box.)

Tone Hammer (incl. bag): GBP 550.00
DB 210 (incl. cover): GBP 500.00

I'm based in Amsterdam but happy to ship elsewhere if you arrange for a courier.

  5. I also own a pre-EB StingRay in the walnut finish with a black epoxy preamp and a fretted rosewood board. Mine has a '78 body and an '80 neck. Given that Music Man discontinued the black epoxy preamps in late '78 / early '79 and didn't introduce rosewood fretted boards as an option until late '79, I presume there aren't too may examples around with this combination of specs. Either way, this bass is an absolute steal at this price!

  6. Priced now slashed to GBP 1650!!!

    No trades.

I’ve decided to part with my Overwater Original Series five-string, as it’s currently not getting much use. The bass was custom built for me in 2015 and has only been used in the studio, so there’s literally not a scratch on it!

    Specs:

    • Maple/ebony neck
    • Rosewood fretboard
    • Flamed maple top
    • Mahogany back; 17mm string spacing at bridge
    • 34”scale
    • Overwater humbucking pickups
    • John East modular active circuit with trim pots for bass and treble, dual concentric mid sweep, volume, and pickup pan
    • Gotoh tuners
    • Hipshot Bass Xtender.

The bass possesses a wide variety of sounds and plays and balances extremely well. It served me extremely well in the studio last year, where I used it to record an album’s worth of tracks.

‘So why are you selling it?’, I hear you ask! Well, I’ve found that a 33” inch scale is easier on my tendons, which were badly damaged by typing-induced RSI a few years ago.

The bass comes in a pristine Hiscox teardrop case with a certificate of authenticity from Overwater founder Chris May.

I’m looking for GBP 2350.00 (EUR 2685.00), but I’m open to serious offers.

I'm based in Amsterdam, but my parents travel over from England regularly, so they could bring the bass back with them if need be.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

  7. Price now dropped to GBP 1050. Open to serious offers.

    No trades.

All-original 1988 Overwater Artisan bass guitar with the rare active filter circuit, which is hard to find in full working order nowadays, and offers a wide variety of sounds.

It has an extremely fast, completely clean mahogany neck (no breaks) with an ebony fretboard, and comes with a heavy-duty flightcase.

The bass is currently with my parents in Crewe, England.

NB: I also have a 2015 Overwater Original Series five-string up for sale: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/324506-overwater-original-series-custom-five-string-2015-no-trades/IMG_0973.jpg
