1. Just bought Martin's Hartke LH-500 bass amp. He was a pleasure to deal with - good communication, and super speedy delivery ... Oh, and a great amp, too!

You should have a PM about the rack bag ... :)

Ha ha - I read elbow instead of ebow. It's still too early for me ...
    :)

  4. My 1996 Fender Mexican Jazz bass in red has the one-piece control/scratch plate. It used to have the strat-style knobs, but I changed them to the more traditional jazz style ones.

I looked at replacing the scratch plate, but unfortunately, as you said the screws are in the 'wrong' position. It's just a pity I found this out after purchasing my replacement parts... :)

  5.
I'd make a 'producer placebo box' using bits from maplin. - aluminium box, pots, footswitch, jack sockets etc.

The input will be connected directly to the output and there'd be at least one footswitch and pot not connected to anything. Go crazy with painting it and give it a suitably funky name. With that on your board, anytime a bandmate asks you to make a change to your sound (including a request to turn the volume down) you'll have some controls to adjust to make them happy without actually messing up your sound. :)
Genius! I like it.

  6. Hi all

My nice new Eden head has a 'tuner output' jack. I've never used one before, and not being at home at the moment, I can't experiment with it to find out how it works. So...to satisfy my curiosity, does anyone know how I would connect my tuner (Boss TU-2) to the amp via this jack?

Also, are there any advantages to hooking the tuner up this way compared to the standard 'bass -> tuner -> effects -> amp'?

    Many thanks

    Rick

  7. Continuing the thread on Jamerson, has anyone been lucky enough to be sent the password to the isolated Motown bass tracks on the site below?

I've contacted the site owner in the past, requesting the user name / password, but I have received no reply so far. :)

  8. Thanks for organising, BB. It was a good day, and nice to put a few faces to names.

I think the star of the show had to be that blue effects unit (BigRedX's) - everyone literally stopped what they were doing once that drum beat kicked in! :)

Thankfully, I didn't get the Rickenbacker GAS attack that now seems to be going round...

  9.
I'll bring a few Tsais and a Thumb. Also a BFM DR250 cab plus Superfly, and probably a GK MB150 and some headphones too. Or maybe a Crate Powerblock plus headphones.
Ooh...I'd be very interested in hearing the DR250 cab. I'm about to finish my Omni 10 and may consider upgrading to a DR250 sometime in the future.

  10. I think it's the fact that most C&W songs sound identical that I dislike it so much. Although that's probably also the reason I love the blues so much. Hmm, I think I've just out-argued myself!

OK, how about these reasons for disliking Country and Western music?

The whiny voice that accompanies every song

The cowboy hats
;)

3 Band + Series/ Single Coil / Parallel switching (4 string 'Rays are Parallel by default)
Argh! Don't give me more of a choice to make! :)
