1.
It does sound lovely although is hampered somewhat by my inexperience of a fretless at the moment!
That's ok. We're all inexperienced at something or the other. Good stuff!! :)

  2.
Wow, looks interesting! Right now, following a minor injury, I tried to go very gently with only stuff from Aebersold's Scalle Syllabus (wich I reccommend), but I'll certainly download and try this one out.
Oh. Sorry to hear about your injury. Yes this list is purely a reference I made over the years. Once you nail the flow of intervals around the fretboard for one scale, the rest gets really easy. Hope your injury heals. All the best!! :)

  3.
Yes, I am on a lot :) but I don't have BC pages open all day long. Besides I do get notifications when I'm online (& off).

I've just reviewed all my post from today (after my BB went down for most of the evening) and about half of them that I'm subscribed to haven't notified me of any new posts at all.

I just wonder how much I've missed out on in the past because of this - or worse, how many times have I appeared to have rudely ignored someone because I've not been notified of a reply.
I have the same problem. I don't get updated for a quite a few of them either. and its tough to individually check them all. I hope there's a solution. :)

  4.
You want the J-Retro 01 for a standard Jazz bass, not the Deluxe. The Deluxe is for the Deluxe Jazz.
Yes I've considered that. As per advice I just got from another user here (Circle_of_Fifths), I think I'll try to get Mr East to leave the jack slot unaltered and instead give me a stacked knob so that I can have the J-retro deluxe on my squier. :)

  5. I was studying for Grade 5 back in 05 or 06 i think. RGT books. And then I saw the books for Rockschool that a friend of mine was going through. I really think the RGT books are a notch higher, and a lot more comprehensive, as Mr. Doddy has already mentioned. I loved the RGT books, they let you think a lot lot more. Am planning to start all over and write the exams by the end of this year. RGT anyday.

  6.
you shouldn't need to route a new hole, can't you just detach the jack that John includes with the preamp and attach the one from your bass?
Are you sure? Because the tone knob on the Jon East J-Retro Deluxe occupies the spot where the jack is supposed to be. If don't make a new hole, where do I keep the jack?

  7. Some looping. Some ebow. It all came out very well on Guitar Rig, I had used 3 delay pedals, some reverb and overdrive. Used a very old acoustic guitar. M not very good on guitar, but I didnt have my bass with me and I had to play anything I could get my hands on. I was too lazy to record all over so I left it as it was. Let me know how badly I messed up. Cheers.

    Song's called Electric Dawn.

  8. Lesson 1 - Freeing up your hands, left hand mostly. Show em the 1234 exercise. Ask em to play slow n easy. Explain what notes are, natural and accidental. And then jam with them a little.

Lesson 2 - Variation in the above warmup exercise, String skipping, using a metronome.

Lesson 3 - Depending on the progress so far, either intro to music theory or more finger exercises.

  9. Jam with her for a while. Initial interest is very delicate, esp among kids. Reinforce that with support and company and she'll hold on to it for life. And once she shows consistency get her a teacher. Like in a few weeks. Get one now and might scare off.

I tried teaching my kid brother 5 years ago. He ran away. :)
Kids hate to practice, but they love to play. :)

Yeah that and what these guys up here said.
