1. Made in Korea. Some body damage from being dropped by a friend (pictured). Plays wonderfully, sounds nice and hot. Lovely guitar. Want to trade as I'm after something different from humbuckers.

I want [s]£250[/s] £225 for it, but I'm open to offers. I'm also interested in trades for another guitar, preferrably one with P90s, ideally a JazzMaster, or will consider trades against a bass. Will ship at buyer's expense, or local pickup in Aberdeen. I do have friends frequently travelling to/from Edinburgh and I'll be in Glasgow soon so pickup can be arranged there if you like.

2. HB Jr is the MAN. Powers everything, all the noise is gone, works a treat. Plus it's TINY! It's about the same size as a standard Boss pedal. Win.

Yup - I agree with the above. I would stick with paint / lacquer and avoid oil. If you don't want to faff about with varnish spray cans, then standard polyurethane varnish (eg Ronseal Hardglaze Clear Varnish), thinned down by around 30% with standard decorators White Spirit, can be applied very successfully by hand, using a microfibre cloth (again - available all over the place). This was done like that, and a painted one would come out just as well:

Hope this helps!

Godsend, thank you.

The reason I was thinking about using oil was that I had found a few folks recommending it as it can give a nice, fast finish to a neck and be reasonably easy to apply - I hadn't thought you could use varnish without having to spray it on and was worried about runs in it etc etc.

just to check this is a power problem, have you tried the same set up but with the ODB3 powered by a battery?
Yeah. Actually, no. I've used the ODB3 alone either with battery or with PSU but not chained with the tuner. I don't think. I can't remember. I'll give it a bash and try to whip up some sound samples tonight too.

5. This is why I'm glad I asked.

So I paint and decal, oil the neck (but don't oil the painted headstock) and then laquer over the headstock?

Or should I ditch the oil altogether if I want to paint and just go with an all over laquer?

Sorry if these are n00b questions, but I'm a n00b to this.

6. Hey,

Apologies if this is in the wrong sub-forum.

Anyway, I have a maple neck, with maple board. I want to paint the headstock, add a decal then finish with tru oil or similar.

In my head the process would be:

Paint headstock
Sand paint
Repaint if necessary
repeat till pretty.
add decal
oil - 3 coats
sand
another 3 coats of oil

Now, first of all - is that right to paint the headstock then oil over it? Or should it go oil - paint - decal - more oil? Or what..?

Next - should I just oil the maple board the same as I plan to with the rest of the neck? Should I mask the board and leave it unfinished...?

Etc etc.

Have found a few tips on finishing the NECK but it's all been using rosewood and always said to mask it and not finish it, but I'm not sure if I should do the same with a maple board?

Any help appreciated,
Ta

The Diago Powerstation is well worth checking out, I've been using one for about 5 years and haven't had any noise problems with any pedals, which was a problem I seemed to be plagued with before getting a Powerstation. It's a very versatile bit of kit too.
Seems like a decent bit of kit but I can get the Harley for £20 and the Diago seems to be £60 upwards, so I might take a punt as I only have a couple of pedals to power anyway!

It's an EU plug. I haven't really pulled the cable apart to check, although i was intending to. I just use an EU/UK adapter at the moment as it's a bit quicker and easier.

Mk, that could work.

Only other worry is that I also use a Hartke VXL which, according to the website, comes with a 200mA PSU and the Jnr only gives out 120mA. I can't find the actual max consumption of the VXL anywhere though.

Cheapest way to solve it would be with an isolator cable for the ODB so something like this http://www.ebay.co.u...460ad5772f#shId

Then with whatever you've already got you'd be sorted, that eBay PSU wouldn't help.

Harley Benton Powerplant Junior from Thomann. I've used that with 5 pedals (Marshall JH-1, Boss TU-2, MT-2, Behringer BDI-21 and a Joyo JF-12) without any issues.
These two options don't cost far from the same, so I'll probably go with the Harley. Only question I have - the pic on Thomann has a 2-pronged US style plug. I assume there's a transformer or something in the power cable where I can plug a UK plug in there...?

I had the same problem.
Had a dirt cheap psu plug with daisy chain and it couldnt handle more than 2 pedals cuz it would buzz and squeak.
Probably didnt have enough power in it.

To solve it I bought a sound labs psu that powers 6 pedals no problem and ive tried it with 5. That ebay supply I think would work. Its like the budget psu that andertons sell in guildford and I know a couple of guys running it. Not sure if id trust it with 10 pedals tho!

I feel more comfortable with a dedicated multi psu now anyway and it works :)

Hope that helps

Cheers for the advice, might be a lack of juice, but I wouldnt have thought so as the tuner is never "on" when the ODB is?
I run my ODB-3 on a daisy chain and it's not noisy. Do you have the gain control any higher than 9 o'clock?
Yeah, probably closer to 11. It did stop when the gain was RIGHT down, but then the pedal wasn't really doing anything I wanted by that point.

10. Ashdown MAG300 (old version, not the EVO series.)

Like this:
http://www.ashdownmu...on=legacy&ID=67

I can hopefully get pics ASAP.

It comes in a Gator 4U rack with a berhinger 1u tuner.
http://www.behringer...ts/BTR2000.aspx

The big turny knob on the berhinger on the left of the display is missing, but there's still a little stump to fit a new knob on and you can twiddle the stump to use the dial as well. Still 100% working order and otherwise it's all mint.

I want £200 to fund some GAS, plus any shipping (I have no idea how much it'll be but I'll take a punt and say £220 delivered. Hesitant to take a trade but will consider basses or guitars. Make an offer.

11. Ahoy!

I've purchased a tube preamp pedal from a fellow BCer. I've contacted him to ask if he has known of any previous issues, the item was reasonably well packaged but I'd assume there was damage in transit.

The details:

I plug her in with no ins or outs connected and it's all fine. No earthing issues that I can see and the on/off switch isn't live. Then, when I plug anything into a channel out, the connector goes live and zaps me, as does the on/off switch.

Also, when the pedal is inactive and I give the pedal a tap, the status LED flickers.

Is this a common thing with tube pedals?? Am I doing something retarded here or is the kit borked?

xx

12. I'll start by saying sorry if this has been asked a squillion times before - but I need some advice re: power supply choice for the pedal board I'm in the process of putting together.

Currently I have:
TU-2 (tuner)
LMB-3 (limiter/enhancer)
ODB-3 (overdrive/distortion)

On the way are:
EHX 2UBE (tube pre)
Hartke VXL Bass Attack (pre)

I'm well aware that I shouldn't need the 2ube, hartke AND the ODB, plan is to keep one as an "always one" and another as a "the guitarist is pratting about with a solo, need to step up the noise to hold the rythm fort" boost.

ANYWAY. I started out with a simple daisy chain like this thing:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/9V-GUITAR-EFFECT-PEDAL-POWER-SUPPLY-5-WAY-DAISY-CHAIN-/150569460382?pt=UK_Guitar_Accessories&hash=item230ea3a29e

Problem is - when I have the ODB and ANY other pedal powered by it, the ODB makes this horrific squeal/hum noise, sounds kinda like a dial-up modem pitch, so it needs to be run seperately from the others. The daisy chain seems to work OK for the LMB and the TU-2 together, though.

My question is: if I want a 9V psu that can power the Hartke, ODB, LMB and TU2, do I need to spend a fortune? (The 2ube has it's own 12VAC supply).

I'm looking at this thing with keen interest:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GUITAR-EFFECTS-FX-MULTI-POWER-SUPPLY-UP-10-PEDALS-/200539183668?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D4291581285219086484%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D200539183668%26

Anyone offer any reason why this won't solve my noise issues with the ODB?

And can anyone tell me what the current consumption of a Hartke VXL Bass Attack is?? I can't find the info anywhere!!

xx

13. Ahhhh the berhinger sounds like a shout! Might do the same as Bassmachine and get the berhinger as a "mean time" solution and see what I think. Other temptation is the EHX 2ube but it doesn't have a DI out, which is rather annoying, but then again most venues I play have a DI box wired into their PA and into the house amp so odds I won't need XLR out THAT often....

xx

14. So I'm, looking to invest in one of these babies, means I'll be able to axe my OD-B and will also be handy for most of the gigs I do as I generally get DI'd straight to the board, so running my DI from a sansamp means I'll get a nice, ballsy FOH sound.

ANYWAY - what's the difference between the para driver and the bass driver? The para driver seems more tweakable, but is 6 of one... or is it worth holding out for a bargain on a para driver rather than a bass driver?

I dunno, part of me thinks with a bass like this I should spend a bit more $ and get the body redone/new body. :S
Given that it's a "cheap" bass with no sentimental value or anything, then if I were you I'd redo the body again myself if you're not happy with it? Keep doing it until it's right, learn a heap, improve your skills and if you manage to completely butcher it, THEN send it to be redone or buy a new body.

That's just my 2p though.

Thanks for this thread though, I've always thought it'd be "not toooooo hard really.." to refinish a body, gonna do a lot of second-guessing and research before I jump into some of the projects I have in wait!
