  1. Just wondering if anyone here has seen/heard/tried the new Ampeg BA600/BA300 combos, I cannot find too much on them on the net.

Seems like an attractive package, 600w, 2 channels (one B-15 voiced, one modern) 1x15 or 2x10, 50lbs weight.

    Thoughts or experiences?

  2. Hi and welcome to the world of the BB300!
I have had three of these in all including one fretless (all lefties). I now only have one though, I sold the fretless and gave one of the fretted ones to a good friend.

I have kept what I considered to be the best of the ones I have had and it is identical to the one on the right of your photo. The bridge, pickup configuration and body shape are the same. Mine was bought by the original owner in 1979. The one on the left of your photo is identical to the fretted one my friend now has. The bridge was much lower quality on mine, the pick ups routed the other way round and the body shape was different like yours and much heavier than my original one. I cannot remember if mine had the tuning fork logo but the one I still have does not.

So, I would say that your latest purchase is an original BB300.

I wouldn't part with mine, it has been the most used of all the basses I have owned and would recommend the early ones highly. Why anyone would pay £1000 for a 70's Fender P when you can get one of these for £100ish is beyond me... but then that has never stopped me spending £1000 a time on basses now I think about it :-)

How are the tuners on yours? Mine are well shot now but being such nice old nickel ones I cannot bring myself to change them. I undersand they were always a weak point on these basses.

    Cheers.

  3. I have had one of these for home practicing since they first came out. Like you say, awesome little amp and surprisingly loud too. If you have tried the bigger Lowdowns and been very disspointed, as I was, don't let that put you off giving one of these babies a try.

Interested in the "hidden" model... how do I get at it?

  4. Ok, here for sale is my Warwick Tubepath 10.1 1kw head, 115PRO & 211PRO cabs.

The head has been little used, it was a backup for the original owner and is still with its original packaging/manuals etc. I have only played 1 gig and a couple of rehearsals with it. The cabs were bought new by me a couple of months ago and are as new.

I have just been unable to resist a Mesa stack offered at a price I could not refuse.... now need the space and money!

The gear is in Somerset, I would be happy to meet within reasonable distance.

New price on GAK this morning for the 3 items was £1,313....

    Yours for £700.... form a queue.... :-)

Will be willing to split but would like to give someone the chance to buy the stack as a whole first.

I would be keen to hear from anyone with a Mesa 1x15 Powerhouse or Mesa 1x15 Diesel cab for sale/trade.

PM me with any questions etc.

    Cheers

  5. [quote name='deksawyer' post='61234' date='Sep 16 2007, 05:05 PM']These basses come from the same factory as Jim Deacon & SX.

I have one, I've gigged with it and they're remarkable value for money.

I have two of these, one Jazz (for sale) and one Precision. I regularly gig with the Precision. I also have a no name butterscotch tele. All play very well indeed!

  6. No worries.

I have just had a look at a recentish copy of Bass Guitar Magazine which has a group test of 4 synth/wah pedals. If its any use to you by all means drop me a message with your address and I will put it in the post to you.

For info, the Akai Deep Impact came out on top in the test (quelle surprise!!!)

    Cheers

  7. Hi Mike
I am not really qualified to comment as I have not tried one.... but, I have read nothing but good stuff about the Emma Discombobulator (spelling?!?!) It is all analogue though.

  8. The Superfly channels cannot be bridged..... frustratingly enough :)

Other than that though I am very pleased with mine... also used a practice/rehearsal amp here.

As someone else mentioned I am also considering getting a 2x10 cab and replacing the drivers with 4ohm ones and feeding each from one channel of the Superfly... should be a very compact and useable 500w rig I reckon!
