2.
when I was younger I did not realise he played stick on elephant talk and figured the main parts by tapping them on my bass; sounds like Primus got a few ideas from that stuff! I did purchase some funk fingers from TLs site about ten years ago - they are pretty much the butt end of a drum stick with a groove cut which holds and adjustable strip of velcrose. Send me your email if you want me to take a pic so you can robthe design.
Hi Steve thankyou for your help, i appreciate it My Email is [email protected] it is always nice to hear people's comments that have the same interests Regards HowardH
 3. hi again, yes i did know what instrument he played elephant talk on, but his speeds even so are incredible, i have seen him play on that both hands doing both ends in the same way, at the same time, such as chords and fingering so fast that notes are almost indistinguishable. Thankyou for telling me though Steve thankyou and i will send my email to you i always thought it funny hearing that joke that bass players are failed guitarists, but i started on bass and am now also playing guitar, a job that i avoided for years, i was wondering what that would make me lol maybe a general failure hehe i am recording a song at the moment that has a dual track bass end, one for a busy funk slap, and one just a pump, sounds good so far, busy yet, rhythmic very big its only on a br1600cd so if anyone has one then you could see how you can improve it, and mail me the tracks thankyou all again for your interest , advice and help regards HowardH
 4. thanks for that great clip, i only wish i knew how to download it. others seem to get angry when i say that i think that tony levin isn't human hehe either that or he come out of the womb with bass in his little hands anyone heard Elephant Talk, to me that is impossible and i have played for over 30 years always striving to get better. i have just discovered lead guitar recently since building a small recording studio and after doing lead bass for so long it seemed like a toy to me, the same speed but a 3rd of the work i love bass and always have since i was a kid, when someone told me bass is a four stringed guitar so i picked it up thinking it would be easier, so young so stupid hehe once again thankyou all HowardH
 5. thanks guys, i think i will get someone to make them for me so they last and are balanced, i want the bounce to do most of the work to get the speeds up. chopsticks are too light and the ends must percuss so the weight down that end is important (at least to me) the trick (again for me) is to have little weight for speed and enough weight for bounce so i am talking to someone here that owns a factory he thinks we can work it out. thanx again
 6. errr thanks but i need proper ones and i wouldnt know where to start with chopsticks
 7. Does anyone know where i can get some funk fingers from, i have wanted them for years Anyone help me please, please i have tried to make them but they were way too heavy though i loved the sound and i need some for recording thanks HowardH
 8.
Welcome to the site, hhoward. Any thoughts on the cricket? Ponting being gobby on telly, but can't help but feel he's not the guy to get your lot playing again.
Hi Gust and thankyou for the welcome, now it is feeling a little more like a family here which to me is what we are (at least most of us) especially us bass players lol I look at it this way, we did not invent the game, and loss is ultimately the refresh button (or motivator) for the future. but things change quickly also, i agree ponting can be like that, but if you've ever heard the amount of sledging that goes on in a cricket match (unfortunately the aussies are the most notorious for it) then ponting is being gentle as you would no doubt agree
 9.
I used to own two Riverhead Unicorn basses. A black one and a electric pink one, both of which were given to me. They were OK basses, very light and portable but lacked real bottom end I though.
Actually my unicorn has a lot of bottom end but as i said, i have emgs plus circuitry built into it and i do not remember how it was before, perhaps that was why i changed the pickups, however it cooks and always has, you should have kept those unicorns they are increasing in value all the time, Football? i take it you mean Aussie rules football, perhaps you are right about that but i would not tell those guys that because i think the shortest AFL players come to around 6'4" they just look short on TV because they are strongly built

 11.
Sorry, thought you were a spammer or some kind of nutter. Yours Confused of Basschat.
No Problems, basschat is lucky to have someone like you deciding who is worthy and who is not I am but a humble bass playing western australian reaching out into the unknown to comunicate with other bass players, perhaps to glean a little wisdom that i am lacking
 12.
I thought it was funny - considering the rubbish that people talk about old Japanese basses. Always wanted a Unicorn - you hardly ever see them though. Jon.
Thanx Jon, i was starting to wonder if i needed to slow down my humor button or something there is only one decent full size unicorn for sale that i have seen and that is on ebay, cant remember the country though, last i seen it was up to around$600 with 4 days to go, i think three days now
 13.
You bought it new in 1873?
Obviously that was a joke suggesting that i am not a kid, that it has been with me a long time, i am sure that even the bluntest tool in the shed would be aware that no human living today would have actually been around at that time, and that also riverhead were not producing electric light bulbs at that time, let alone bass guitars. Anyway, to anyone reading this, i will not make anymore humorous comments in future just so our friend steve will not get confused. lol All cleared up now steve? Gosh, besides all this, i am glad this site exists, this is my first bass site and my first day on it.
 14.
Errr, ok, thanks for that.
I was Simply stating that the original Riverhead brand is a great quality alternative. Is that a problem?
 15. Hi guys, i can vouch for the quality of riverhead i have played my full scale unicorn for well errrr since i bought it new in 1873, before the factory burnt down, i have had and played many other basses and still my unicorn is all i need in a four string. when i bought it i had the neck flattened, high quality fret wire installed, two EMG's, and EMG circutry (basically 2 pre-amps) installed, i am a lead bassist so i needed to do what i did for easier speed, but i have yet to find another stringed instrument with a longer sustain than this one has. and it has that GROWL even when the strings start dying. I love my Bass, regards Howard
