'While the Cat's Away' is a jazz collective. We regularly play at the Rose and Crown Theatre pub in Walthamstow. We are have a pool of players. We are a gentle lounge bar band. We have a bass player but he needs a dep so we are looking for someone to step in, possibly at short notice. We play alternate Tuesdays and the band is fronted by 3 singers who rotate.( Not spinners , we take turns to front the band). We get other gigs at other places especially in the summer. I sing with a band called Los Outros in a fab pub called the Rose and Crown on Hoe St in Wathamstow. Sometimes 10 people turn up to play and other weeks only 4. We have a fab bassplayer who has to take a 'hol'. His usual dep is unavailable. He may be away for weeks. We get paid gigs through referral from the pub. We have a pianist and a guitar player. We have a drummer who will only come if there is a bass player but we have dep for him anyway. We need someone who is familiar with the great american song book so if jazz is your thing it's for you. Being a good reader will help. The band is made up of dedicated amateurs but the standard is high. We take a hat around the pub and split the takings. The pub give the band free drinks.
