I picked up a 60 watt combo recently and it seems not too bad - haven't tried it in a practice room yet though

A works band I'm in played the office Xmas party at the Hub here in Edinburgh last Friday (13th) - really nice venue to play with the sound being done by Reddog music - two 18 inch PA subs for the bass to go through

In a rock covers band in the late 90s, we played a pub in Bonnyrigg near Edinburgh. The "bouncer" was in his late 70's, we were crammed in a corner booth with the drummer sitting on the booth couch rather than a drum seat, and the toilets were immediately to our right and everyone had to walk in front of the band to get to them. About half way through the first set the bar staff came rushing over to us telling us to stop playing. We didn't think we playing as bad as that - the reason ? two women were having a cat fight at the bar. classy !

To answere the OP's question - depends how much space you have on stage and how many other band members are on stage with you.

I tend not to do much, maybe look up now and then, tap a foot, leave the wandering about to the others.

Currently in a band for work (we did a charity gig in April at the Voodoo Rooms here in Edinburgh) and we've been asked to play the works Xmas night out - venue is the Hub at the top of the Royal Mile - maybe an audience of 300+ colleagues to entertain

Visited the venue last week and the stage is pretty big, comes complete with a pulpit as a back drop

I have a B2A black and white and they are really good basses - mine is from around 1985 and still in decent nick

There are Steinberg Spirit basses out there as well - not sure if they are any good but around the price for the Hohner or a bit less

Good thread, loving the reactions to when there are famous bass players in the audience.

Have played in front of Rory MacDonald (Runrig), Dougie MacLean and Tony Todd (of the Candyman films) at various times.

I have something similar for Bohemian Rhapsody somewhere (in MP3 format) bit weird listening to individual bits fo the song but fascinating how it all links together as a song.
