1.
It pains me to see it still for sale too. I won't bore you with the 'if I had the cash' thing.. my account is in no position to be buying amps!

Such a nice amp too. I played one down at Bass Merchant and passed that up.. GUH! This one is definitely in my top 5!
BASS BUMP!!

  2.
Up for sale is my svt 4-pro. It's a great amp, however, there are some other amps on sight I'd like to get, so this one is for sale. It's 2 years old, bought new. It was made before ampeg moved production to Vietnam (if someone finds that interesting). It's flawless and it does its job perfectly - it was never repaired because I have had no problems with it. It comes in original package, along with proper cables and manuals. I'm asking £730, but add about £50 to £70 maximum (although it's probably less) for shipping to UK as I'm from Slovenia. If someone's interested, feel free to ask whatever you want to know. I don't intend to lower the price because this amp is almost new.

  3.
Check out our latest demo at www.thetourist.se click at "musik" and listen to the latest songs "pioneers" and "monster feers".
Let me know what you think!

Everything was recorded at our rehersal space with rather simple equipment. As this is a bass forum I´ll let you know that the bass was a Squier JV P-bass direct into a Line6 Toneport and then mixed and twisted in Cubase.
well i'm just thinking i listened to the songs not the bass'' and monster fears is a deffinate movie tune, cause the naritive of the lyrics and the whole performance sounds fitting to be played to a sene'' cool , thanks alot.

  4.
Years ago when I first played bass my teacher told me never never never play on open strings bcoz you can't control the length of the note. (Then in my young days I was playing more rock). Playing again now and learning to play walking lines and sight read, my teacher advocates using open strings to keep the notes phat and long. (He is by trade an upright player in a big band who plays some bass guitar as well). This concept is extremely alien to me and sounds to my ears "Mushy".

What does everyone else think, should I be persevering and learning on to use open strings, playing without open strings, or changiung my teacher??

    Steve
why can you not control the length of the note oh an open string? i hope your teacher has evoled a little since those days'' when i began with bass, i was promted not to play open strings so that any lick/pattern could be transposed around the neck, whith is a good thing but never say never !

  5.
Its a superb gig. It's a club but with a capacity of 700, smashing people run the place and sort the sound etc.... We were very lucky last year,we did our 10th anniversarry gig there and got 609 people. Yes we did count them. Apart from that I've seen some great gigs there. This year have been Spocks Beard and Richard Thompson. You will love it.
WICKED!!

  6.
Hi guys,

I have been talking to Elixir and thought I would post what he told me via e-mail for you all:

    ----------------------------------

We changed our distributor in May this year from "Strings and Things" to "Westside Distribution".

Westside distribute all our lines ( Bass / Acoustic / Electric / Banjo & Mandolin) throughout the UK and are doing a very nice job.

If any of your readers are having any difficulty in finding our bass strings they can check our website www.elixirstrings.co.uk ( which is about to be updated ) or contact Westside www.westsidedistribution.com These two options should help your players locate a retailer who stocks Elixir® Strings.

There may also be some confusion around our change in the way we sell our bass strings now.

We previously sold 4 string sets, 5 string sets and 6 string sets.

We now offer retailers a more flexible way to offer even more of our bass strings to end users.

We sell 4 string standard sets in the following gauges - All NANOWEB Coating

    Super Light -(040 - 095)
    Light - (045 - 100)
    Medium - (045 - 105)
    Medium XL - (045 - 105)
    Heavy - (050 - 105)

In addition we now offer as full retail packs

5th Strings to allow standard or customised 5 string sets ( for the same price as our previous 5 string sets)

    Super Light -125
    Light - 130
    Medium - 130tw
    Medium XL - 130tw
    Heavy - 135

    6th String

    Medium - 032

Hope this explains it a bit.

    Happy to post any updates.
    --------------------------------------------------

Also remember that strings like Warwick EMPs are actually very different from Elixirs - they coat the individual parts of the string prior to winding, wheras Elixir coat them afterwards, meaning the crap doesn't get in between the windings. This is completely protected by Elixir and nobody else can copy this method. To me, the Warwick strings are a funny approach - they actually put gunk in between the windings before you have even tried them!!

Hope this helps. Would it be a good idea to change the heading of this message to reflect the change in distributor?

    Cheers

well.......... i'm a little miffed on this one'' firstly if anyone can say that there is a string out there that sounds good after a week then let me know!! even if they have not been played atall in that week,, Elixirs sound great for a week even with hours of play and they sound good for 3/4 weeks there after, they are truelly amazing' there coating may shift or varry a little, re peeling etc, i don't know if there electrolitically charged or dipped or what ?? but the coating is nano minisculle micro invisable! the feel to the touch is very soft and there not grippy on your fingertips like st -steel, there more like nickle strings, as for the guages..... Mark King plays 30 -90 's Victor Wooten plays 40 -95 and Marcus plays 45 -105 and when i started playing bass 40 -100 were STD. not light. and these guys do not play there strings for more than 3/4 houres, if you want BASS then keep them on for a year '' if you want some attack and more importantly string to string intonation and harmony then 4 or 5 times £20.00 is more than £40.00 a month. needless to say i think there a really great string, G.

  7.
Perhaps if you made it crystal clear how much you want you may have more luck. I presume you want £720 for the head or an HD350 + £350.
thats correct. EBS650 for £720.00, trade for EBS 350 for £350.00

  8.
Agreed... had it been £350 for the TD650 I think an orderly queue would have formed at his front door :) so most will have realised that the price is £720 hence the tumbleweed is rolling down the street
£1309.00 new ! anyone with an EBS 350 head who wants an upgrade is in luck, tumbleweed or not' BUMP

  9.
Agreed... had it been £350 for the TD650 I think an orderly queue would have formed at his front door :) so most will have realised that the price is £720 hence the tumbleweed is rolling down the street
bargain ! worth a bump!!

  10. I can even put a routine together to help you get rid of any bad habits-unless they are part of your sound! :)
