Try running!

Welcome to the Forum. Have fun, it's a good place.

Stay groovy,

2. Not that I'm losing any sleep over it - and I do concede that I haven't been around that long - but I notice that my membership status has reverted from 'member' to 'no longer a noob'. Seems a bit of a shame, since I've tried to contribute to a very varied number of threads, and I haven't even come close to posting a FleaBay link...

Will your changes have affected this?

3. Welcome Will. You will also be required to partake in the usual navel-gazing. Sooner or later, someone will start a thread entitled "Best buns to balance yer bass on?" or suchlike.

But then again, it's kinda fun. Welcome again, from another former lurker.

Stay groovy
Although thats a fair point , I have been mucked about by 6 bands this year alone, I've wasted hours upon hours learning songs , half of which I 'm not really that fussed about. To use the employment analogy I would be asking myself if this career was really meant for me as there seems to be something not working. This is where I'm at now.
Sorry, didn't realise it was 6 bands - no wonder you're brassed off.

I still say, don't let the buggers grind you down. At the risk of exhausting the job analogy, I'm sure most people have been turned down for more jobs than they've actually been accepted for, but they generally keep persevering.

So, TB13, as I always say - stay groovy. If you love playing, then the right band will happen sooner or later.

Bestaluck

So, if you'd applied for, say, a full time job, and you didn't hear anything, would you refuse to apply for any other job for the rest of the year?

My view is: F*ck 'em. If they don't want you, that's their loss. Go find another, better band, have shitloads of fun, and don't look back.

Stay groovy, and bestaluck

6.
Anyway, I tried plugging my VGA- VGA cable into my Toshiba TV at the weekend.
Once I did this all seemed well, until I adjusted the monitor solution on my Mac Mini. The screen went black.
I tried resetting the PRAM ,but no good.

The main question I have is : Do I try a VGA-HDMI cable? (VGA in the Mac, HDMI into TV)
One other thing, the Mac Mini came with a white adapter, which I have on all the time.
Much as I love Macs, and only ever use them, Apple do tend to keep buggering about with the video output sockets. Depending on how old your Mini is, it will have one of three video output sockets: 1. Full size DVI, which will need an adaptor for VGA. 2. Two mini DV sockets, both also needing an adaptor for VGA, 3. HDMI and mini DV. Clearly, HDMI would be better, but is only found on the most recent models.

Also, your Toshiba telly will only display it's best available resolution. Is it HD or standard def?

You could try removing your adaptor on the Mini and just use a DV cable (if the Toshiba has an input). Otherwise, I'd personally stick to VGA and configure the resolution from the Mac. Try a fairly middling, standard resolution first, and see how far you get. There is a 'Detect displays' button in Display Preferences, which may help. I wouldn't have thought resetting the PRAM would make any difference.

If you're not happy with VGA, you can find a selection of cables here:

http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/home/shop...mco=MTk1NTc1Njc

These include all sorts of configurations, including DV to HDMI for about £15

Not sure if this is helpful, but bestaluck.

7. Take the Ashdown and do your thang. Relax, enjoy, repeat.

Alternatively...

1. Arrive in limo
2. demand to know where dressing room, hookers, drugs and fee are
3. Have your security entourage confiscate all cameras
4. Play through the loudest rig you can find
5. Play anything you flippin well please, regardless of the script
6. leave in a blaze of glory/bewilderment

Seems to work for quite a few signed bands out there...

Have fun!
