1.
I think she belongs to this thread, 1978 Fender P
that P is quite possibly the sexiest bass I have ever seen!!!!!

  2. I Bought a Double bass a couple of years back as the guy who was selling it was letting it go for cheap but I'm struggling to identify it. The only markings on it I can find is inside the body, saying "In Germany" I assume it did at one point say "made in Germany" it looks aincent and I'll get some photos uploaded later on tonight, is there any areas in particular I should be Photographing?

just looking to get names/dates/pricing etc!

  3. i've had my P for a few years now but recently its become unplayable due to the jack socket cracking like hell when touched. I took it to a local guitar shop to get repaired and its come back with a different problem!

When the volume pot is turned its making a very "rough" turning sound and the little signal that comes throught in certain positions is very weak and distorted.

thought it was possibly the battery so I gave it the lick test and its still very strong!

could the new jack be the problem? or have I just been unluky and got a new problem?

the socket looks pretty much the same as the old one.

just after some advice before I take it back to the shop!

    cheers

    Lee

  4. Not really a diary as i forgot to take shots before it was finished haha

Used a old guitar hardcase shortened down to size! lined the floor and made a raised platform out of left over laminate from my living room! Makes life so much easier!!

Big bass love for me is fenders! got a p-pass deluxe, jazz deluxe and strangly enough a gibson sg, run them through a marshall vba400 with a range of effects!

great forum you got here, very informative and seems to have plenty of nice folk too!!

    Hi All!!!!!

  8.
Yes. They're both 4-ohm cabs, so plug 'em both in and the amp sees 2 ohms total load (so make sure you flip the switch to "2 ohms"), and the 400W of power will be divided equally between them: 200W each. Proceed to rock out and decide if you like what you hear.
you've just saved me a sh*t load of money hahahhaha

    thanks alot man!

  9.
You asked for a recommendation, that's what I would do. :)

You'll find 2 decent quality 2x10s stacked vertically will do all that you need. Plenty of depth & the Markbass cabs have tweeters too & my back likes the light wight. Doesn't have to be Markbass cabs tho, there's many good brands & barefaced (Alex Claber on here) are highly rated too. Or if you want to self build, then BFM (Bill Fitzmaurice on here) are also highly rated.

I didn't mean to sound cheeky about selling the 4x12, just a suggestion. :)

    Oh, & welcome to BassChat.
hahaha no worries mate!

i love the sheer power and balls of the 412 its one of the best cabs ive played, just looking for something to boost the high end a bit.

  10.
I'd recommend flogging the 4x12 & getting 2 Markbass 2x10s.
and why would i want to do that?

  11. i'm after a 2x10 to accompany my marshall vba 400 with vbc412 cab, looking to give my rig a nice bit of top end bite. would need something that was 4ohm and could handle 400watt, also possibley looking for a 2x10 with a built in horn. any suggestions?
